Man, what a day! Oleszyce, you wild beast. I woke up thinking it’d be just another boring Tuesday. Boy, was I wrong. First off, I hit the streets of Oleszyce, right? I’m talking about the main drag, ul. 3 Maja. It’s usually chill, but today? Nah, not a chance. I’m just minding my biz, when I see this dude on a bike, right? He’s flying down the street like he’s in the Tour de France or something. Almost takes out a babcia crossing the road. I’m like, “Yo, slow down, man!” But he just zooms past, probably late for his coffee or whatever. Then, I swing by the market on ul. Rynek. You know, the one with the fresh veggies and all that? I’m trying to grab some tomatoes, and this lady in front of me is haggling like it’s the end of the world. “I’m not paying more than 2 złoty!” she yells. I’m thinking, lady, it’s just tomatoes! Chill! But she’s relentless. I’m standing there, tapping my foot, getting angrier by the second. Finally, I get my tomatoes and head to the park by ul. Słowackiego. It’s usually a nice spot to chill, but today? It’s packed! Kids running everywhere, dogs barking, and I’m just trying to find a bench. I finally spot one, but it’s covered in crumbs and who knows what else. I sit anyway, because, hey, I’m tired. Outta nowhere, this kid runs up to me, all excited. “Look, mister! I found a frog!” He’s holding this slimy green thing like it’s a trophy. I can’t help but laugh. “That’s cool, buddy. Just don’t let it hop on me!” He giggles and runs off. Kids, man. They make everything better. But then, the mood shifts. I hear sirens blaring. I look up, and there’s a fire truck zooming down ul. Wyszyńskiego. My heart drops. I know that street. My buddy lives there. I whip out my phone, trying to call him, but no answer. Great. Just great. I’m pacing now, anxiety creeping in. What if something happened? I can’t just sit here. So, I bolt towards his place. I’m dodging people, weaving through the crowd like I’m in some action movie. I finally get there, and thank the heavens, he’s fine. Just a small fire in the building next door. Phew! But then, I see the firemen. They’re all buff and serious, and I’m just standing there in my old hoodie, looking like a mess. I can’t help but crack a joke. “Hey, you guys need a hand? I can hold the hose!” They just stare at me like I’m nuts. Whatever, I thought it was funny. After all that chaos, I decide to grab a bite. I hit up this little place on ul. Kwiatowa. Best pierogi in town, no cap. I order a plate, and while I’m waiting, I overhear this couple arguing. “You never listen!” “Well, you never talk!” Classic, right? I’m just sitting there, trying not to laugh. Finally, my food comes, and it’s glorious. I dig in, and it’s like a hug for my stomach. I’m in heaven. But then, I spill some sour cream on my shirt. Great. Just great. Now I look like a walking disaster. As the sun sets over Oleszyce, I’m walking home, reflecting on the day. It was a rollercoaster, for sure. From almost getting run over to saving my buddy, to eating the best pierogi ever. Oleszyce, you crazy town, you keep me on my toes. I get home, plop on the couch, and think, “What a day.” I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Well, maybe a cleaner shirt. But that’s a different story.
