Man, what a day! I’m tellin’ ya, being a baker in Solec-Kujawski is like riding a rollercoaster with no seatbelt. So, I wake up at the crack of dawn, right? The sun’s barely peeking over the rooftops on ul. Główna, and I’m already knee-deep in flour. I mean, who needs sleep when you’ve got dough to knead? First thing, I’m mixing up my famous paczki. You know, those fluffy, jam-filled donuts that make people go wild? Yeah, those. I’m humming some old Polish tunes, feeling all good and stuff. Then, boom! The power goes out. Just like that. I’m standing there in the dark, flour everywhere, like a ghost in a bakery. I’m like, “Seriously? On a Saturday morning?” So, I grab my phone, and it’s dead too. Great. Just great. I’m about to lose it. I run outside to ul. Słowiańska, hoping to find a neighbor with a generator or something. But no, everyone’s still snoozing. I’m about to start banging on doors when I see Mrs. Kowalska. She’s out walking her dog, and I’m like, “Hey, any chance you got power?” She just shrugs and says, “Maybe check the bakery?” I’m like, “Lady, I AM the bakery!” Finally, the lights flicker back on. Thank you, sweet baby Jesus! I rush back, and my dough is like, “What’s up, dude? We were waiting!” I throw it in the oven, and the smell? Oh man, it’s heavenly. I’m feeling good again. But then, I remember I promised my buddy Jarek I’d bring him some fresh bread for his kid’s birthday party. So, I’m racing down ul. Wrzosowa, dodging potholes like I’m in some kind of obstacle course. I get to his place, and guess what? The kid’s party is in full swing, and they’re out of cake! I’m like, “Dude, I got you covered!” I whip out some of my best pastries, and the kids go nuts. I’m the hero of the day! But then, outta nowhere, I hear this loud crash. I turn around, and it’s some dude on a bike, totally wiping out on the sidewalk. I’m like, “Bro, you good?” He’s just lying there, looking dazed. I help him up, and he’s like, “I was just trying to get to the bakery!” I’m thinking, “Man, you picked the wrong day for that.” After the party, I head back to the shop on ul. Kwiatowa. I’m exhausted but happy. I start cleaning up, and then my phone buzzes. It’s a message from my cousin in Warsaw. He’s like, “Yo, I’m coming to visit!” I’m like, “Great, just what I need. More chaos!” But deep down, I’m excited. Family time is always a blast. As I’m closing up, I step outside for a breather. The sun’s setting over the Wisła River, and it’s beautiful. I take a moment to soak it all in. Solec-Kujawski is my home, man. The streets, the people, the crazy days. It’s all part of the ride. So, yeah, that was my day. Full of ups and downs, but wouldn’t trade it for anything. Just another day in the life of a baker in this wild little town. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
