Man, what a day! I mean, seriously, Szczytna, you’ve outdone yourself. Woke up this mornin’ with a killer headache. Probably from last night’s “investigation” at the local pub on ul. 1 Maja. You know, the one with the neon lights and questionable karaoke? Yeah, that one. So, I’m sippin’ my coffee, tryin’ to shake off the cobwebs, when my phone buzzes. It’s my partner, Kowalski. “Get your butt to ul. Złota. Now.” Great. Just what I needed. I throw on my jacket, grab my notepad, and head out. Szczytna is a small town, but it’s got its quirks. The streets are narrow, and the buildings look like they’re straight outta a postcard. But today? Today, it felt like a scene from a bad crime movie. I get to ul. Złota, and there’s a crowd. People are whisperin’, pointin’, and I’m thinkin’, “What now?” Turns out, some dude found a body in the park. Yeah, you heard me right. A body! In the park! I mean, c’mon, who does that? I rush over, and there’s Kowalski, lookin’ like he just saw a ghost. “It’s bad, man. Real bad.” I take a deep breath. The park is usually so peaceful. Kids playin’, old folks feedin’ the ducks. But now? It’s a crime scene. I can’t believe it. I start takin’ notes, but my mind’s racin’. Who was this guy? What happened? Then, outta nowhere, this old lady from ul. Słowiańska starts yellin’. “I saw everything! I saw everything!” I’m like, “Lady, chill!” But she’s on a roll. Apparently, she saw a guy in a black hoodie runnin’ away. Great. Just what we need—more suspects. I’m tryin’ to piece it all together when I spot a kid on a bike. He’s just sittin’ there, lookin’ at the scene like it’s a freakin’ movie. I walk over, and he’s like, “I saw the guy too!” I’m thinkin’, “Great, a witness!” But then he says, “He had a pizza!” A pizza? Really? That’s what you remember? Anyway, I’m gettin’ frustrated. I mean, how do you solve a murder with pizza as the only clue? I head back to the station, my head spinnin’. Szczytna’s streets are startin’ to feel like a maze. I pass by the old church on ul. Kościelna, and it hits me. This town has secrets. Back at the station, Kowalski’s on the phone, lookin’ all serious. I’m like, “What’s the scoop?” He tells me they found out the victim was a local. A guy named Marek. Knew him from around. Nice guy, always helped out at the community center. Now he’s gone. Just like that. I’m feelin’ angry. Why would someone do this? I mean, Szczytna’s supposed to be safe! I grab my coat and head out again. I need to talk to Marek’s friends. Maybe they know somethin’. I hit up the café on ul. Główna. It’s a cozy spot, but today it feels heavy. I sit down, order a coffee, and start askin’ around. People are shocked. “Marek? No way!” They can’t believe it. I’m tryin’ to keep my cool, but inside, I’m fumin’. Then, this girl walks in. She’s got tears in her eyes. “I was supposed to meet him!” she says. My heart sinks. I ask her what she knows, and she tells me they were workin’ on a project together. Something about the community center. I’m thinkin’, “This is bigger than I thought.” I take her number, promise to keep her in the loop. As I leave, I can’t shake the feeling that Szczytna’s not what it seems. The sun’s settin’ as I walk back home. The streets are quiet, but my mind’s racin’. I can’t believe this is my life. A detective in a small town, dealin’ with murder and pizza. What a combo, right? I finally get home, plop down on the couch, and just stare at the wall. What a day. Szczytna, you’ve thrown me for a loop. But I’ll figure this out. I have to.
