Man, what a day! I woke up in Candelaria, PR, and thought, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Spoiler alert: it was NOT chill. First off, I’m an anticorrosion agent, right? Sounds fancy, but really, I just make sure metal doesn’t rust away. So, I’m cruising down Calle San Juan, feeling all good, when BAM! My car starts making this weird noise. Like, what the heck? I pull over, and it’s like the universe is laughing at me. I get out, and it’s hot as heck. I mean, it’s Candelaria, so duh, but still! I’m sweating like a pig. I pop the hood, and it looks like a scene from a horror movie. Smoke everywhere! I’m like, “Great, just what I needed.” So, I call my buddy, Carlos. He’s the car guru. He’s on Calle de la Cruz, so I’m like, “Yo, can you help?” He’s all, “Sure, but I’m busy.” Busy? Doing what? I swear, he’s always busy. Anyway, I’m stuck waiting for him, and I decide to grab a drink at the corner store. I walk in, and the AC is blasting. Thank you, sweet baby Jesus! I grab a cold coconut water. Best decision ever. I’m sipping it, and this old guy starts chatting me up. He’s telling me about the good ol’ days in Candelaria. Like, how the plaza used to be packed with people. I’m thinking, “Man, I wish I could’ve seen that.” Finally, Carlos shows up. He’s got this smirk on his face like he knows something I don’t. He pops the hood, takes one look, and says, “Dude, you need a new battery.” I’m like, “Seriously? That’s it?” I could’ve done that myself! But whatever, I’m just glad he’s here. After the car drama, I decide to hit up the beach. Playa Candelaria is calling my name! I get there, and it’s packed. Families, kids, music blasting. I’m feeling the vibe. I plop down on the sand, and it’s like all my worries just melt away. But then, outta nowhere, this kid runs by and kicks sand all over me. I’m like, “Really, dude?!” I’m covered in sand, looking like a beach monster. But instead of getting mad, I just laugh. Kids will be kids, right? I take a dip in the water, and it’s refreshing. I’m floating, thinking about life, and how Candelaria is such a gem. The sunsets here? Unreal. I mean, have you seen the colors? It’s like the sky is on fire. As the sun sets, I’m feeling all philosophical. Like, why do we stress so much? Life’s too short, man. I’m just an anticorrosion agent trying to make a living, and here I am, worrying about a car battery. I head back home, and on the way, I pass by the old church on Calle de la Luz. It’s beautiful, all lit up. I stop for a sec, just taking it in. Candelaria has this charm that gets to you. Finally, I get home, exhausted but happy. I flop on the couch, thinking about the day. Sure, it was a rollercoaster, but that’s life, right? Full of surprises, laughter, and a bit of chaos. So yeah, Candelaria, you crazy little town, you’ve got my heart. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
