Man, today was a wild ride in Gurabo! Like, I woke up thinking it was just another boring day, but boy, was I wrong. First off, I hit the streets of Calle San Antonio, and lemme tell ya, the traffic was a mess. I mean, come on! It’s not like we’re in San Juan or something. But nah, everyone and their grandma decided to drive today. I was stuck behind this old dude in a beat-up Toyota. Like, bro, you’re not in a race. Chill! So, I finally made it to the office on Calle José de Diego. I work as an info worker, which sounds fancy, but really, I just sit in front of a screen all day. But today? Today was different. My boss, Mr. Rivera, was in a mood. He stormed in like he owned the place. “We need results, people!” he yelled. I was like, “Dude, it’s 9 AM. Can’t we have coffee first?” But no, he was on a mission. After that, I decided to take a break. I strolled down to Plaza de Gurabo. Man, that place is the heart of the city. Kids were playing, old folks were gossiping, and the smell of empanadillas filled the air. I grabbed one from that little stand by the fountain. Best decision ever! I mean, who doesn’t love fried dough filled with goodness? But then, outta nowhere, it started pouring. Like, seriously? I was just trying to enjoy my snack! I ducked under a bus stop, and guess who I saw? My ex! Ugh, talk about awkward. We exchanged some small talk, but I could feel the tension. I mean, we broke up for a reason, right? After that, I was like, “I need a drink.” So, I headed to this little café on Calle de la Cruz. They have the best café con leche. I ordered one, and while I was waiting, I overheard this couple arguing. The guy was like, “You never listen!” and the girl was like, “Well, you never talk!” Classic, right? I couldn’t help but chuckle. Finally, I got my coffee, and it was heavenly. I took a sip, and it was like a warm hug. But then, my phone buzzed. It was work again. “We need that report by 3 PM!” Ugh, the stress! I chugged my coffee and rushed back to the office. On my way back, I passed by the old church on Calle de la Iglesia. It’s beautiful, man. The architecture is just stunning. I thought about how many people must’ve gotten married there. Then I thought, “I hope my ex doesn’t get married there.” Yikes! Back at the office, I was in full-on panic mode. I was typing like a madman, and then—boom! The power went out. Are you kidding me? I was ready to throw my laptop out the window. But then, I remembered the backup generator. Thank goodness for small miracles, right? Finally, I finished the report just in time. I sent it off and felt like I could breathe again. But then, my coworker, Ana, came in with a cake. “It’s my birthday!” she said. I was like, “Girl, you should’ve told us!” So, we all gathered around, and I stuffed my face with cake. Best way to end a chaotic day, for sure. As I walked home, I couldn’t help but laugh at the craziness of it all. Gurabo, you never fail to surprise me. From the traffic jams to the unexpected rain, to running into my ex, and then cake! What a day! I love this place, even when it drives me nuts. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
