Man, what a day! I woke up in Humacao, PR, and thought, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Spoiler alert: it was NOT chill. First off, I hit up Calle Santiago, my usual coffee spot. You know, the one with the best café con leche? Yeah, that one. But guess what? They ran outta coffee! Like, how do you run outta coffee in a coffee-loving town? I was ready to throw a fit. I mean, c’mon! So, I settled for a pastelón instead. Not a bad trade, right? But then, I spilled it all over my shirt. Great. Just great. I looked like I’d been in a food fight. I was mad, but also kinda laughing. Like, who spills pastelón? Me, apparently. After that, I decided to stroll down to Playa de Humacao. The beach was calling my name. The sun was shining, waves crashing, and I thought, “This is it!” But then, outta nowhere, a seagull swoops down and snatches my sandwich! I mean, really? A sandwich thief? I was ready to start a seagull war. But then, I saw some kids playing in the sand, building castles. They were so into it, like little architects. Made me smile. I thought, “Life’s too short to be mad at a bird.” So, I just sat there, soaking up the sun, feeling the breeze. Then, I decided to hit up the local market on Calle José de Diego. You know, the one with all the fresh fruits and veggies? I was on a mission to find some mangos. I love mangos! But when I got there, it was packed. Like, people everywhere. I was dodging carts and kids. It was chaos! Finally, I found my mangos. But then, I overheard this lady complaining about the prices. “Too high!” she said. I mean, c’mon, it’s fresh fruit! I wanted to tell her, “You’re in Humacao, not a supermarket in the States!” But I kept my mouth shut. After that, I decided to chill at the Plaza de Recreo. You know, the one with the big tree? I plopped down on a bench, just people-watching. There was this old man feeding pigeons. He looked so happy. Made me think about how simple things can bring joy. But then, my phone buzzed. Work stuff. Ugh. I had to edit some articles. I was like, “Can’t a person catch a break?” But I pulled out my laptop anyway. As I was typing away, I noticed a couple arguing nearby. It was intense! They were yelling, and I was like, “Dude, keep it down! We’re in public!” But then, they started laughing. Like, what? One minute they’re ready to throw punches, and the next, they’re giggling. Relationships, man. By the time I wrapped up my work, the sun was setting. The sky was all orange and pink. I thought, “Okay, maybe today wasn’t so bad.” I walked back home, feeling grateful. Humacao, with all its quirks, made me realize that life’s a rollercoaster. One minute you’re mad about coffee, and the next, you’re smiling at kids building sandcastles. It’s all about the little moments, right? So yeah, that was my day. Full of ups and downs, but hey, that’s life in Humacao!
