Man, lemme tell ya, today was a wild ride in Ponce. Like, I thought I was just gonna be chillin’ as a bodyguard, but nah, life had other plans. So, I roll up to Plaza Las Delicias, right? Beautiful spot, all those colorful buildings and the iconic Parque de Bombas. I’m just soaking it all in, thinking, “This is the life.” But then, boom! My client, this local artist, decides to do an impromptu street performance. Like, dude, we didn’t plan for this! Suddenly, I’m on high alert. People start crowding around, and I’m like, “Yo, back up!” But they’re all hyped, taking pics, and I’m just trying to keep my cool. I mean, I love Ponce, but sometimes the energy is just too much. Then, outta nowhere, this guy bumps into me. I turn, ready to throw down, but it’s just some dude trying to sell me a coconut. I’m like, “Bro, I’m not here for a drink, I’m here to protect!” But I can’t help but laugh. Only in Ponce, right? After the performance, we head down Calle Cristina. It’s a beautiful street, but man, the traffic was insane. I’m stuck in this car, and I can feel my patience wearing thin. I’m thinking, “Why can’t people drive in a straight line?” I mean, it’s not rocket science! Finally, we get to this gallery opening. I’m standing there, scanning the crowd, and I see this guy in a flashy suit. He looks shady, like he just walked outta a telenovela. My instincts kick in. I’m like, “What’s this dude up to?” Turns out, he’s just a local businessman. But I’m still on edge. I mean, Ponce has its share of drama, ya know? I can’t let my guard down. Then, outta nowhere, my client decides to mingle. I’m like, “Dude, stay close!” But he’s off chatting with some fans. I’m sweating bullets, thinking, “What if something goes down?” And then it happens. A loud crash outside. I bolt to the door, heart racing. Turns out, it’s just a street vendor’s cart tipping over. I’m like, “Seriously?!” But the crowd goes wild, laughing and taking videos. Only in Ponce, man. After that, I finally get a breather. I grab a pastelón from a nearby food truck. Best decision ever. I’m munching away, feeling the vibes of the city. Ponce is alive, man. The music, the people, the food—everything just hits different. But then, I see that shady guy again. He’s talking to some sketchy-looking dudes. My gut’s telling me something’s off. I’m like, “Not on my watch.” I start moving closer, ready to intervene if needed. Just as I’m about to step in, my client comes back, all smiles. I’m like, “Dude, we gotta go!” But he’s all, “Chill, it’s fine.” I’m like, “Fine? You don’t see the vibe here?” Finally, we make our way back to the car. I’m exhausted, but also kinda pumped. Ponce is a rollercoaster, man. One minute you’re chillin’, the next you’re dodging drama. As we drive through the streets, I can’t help but think about how much I love this city. The history, the culture, the people—it’s all so vibrant. Even with the craziness, there’s nowhere else I’d rather be. So yeah, that was my day. Just another day in Ponce, full of surprises and a whole lotta heart. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
