Man, today was a wild ride in Trujillo-Alto! Like, I woke up thinking it’d be just another day, ya know? But nah, the universe had other plans. So, I’m chillin’ at home, sipping my café con leche, and I get a call. “Yo, we need you at the community center on Calle 1.” I’m like, “Sure, no prob!” But then I realize, I’m still in my PJs. Classic me, right? 😂 I rush to get ready, throw on some clothes, and head out. The sun’s blazing, and I’m sweating like a pig. Trujillo-Alto is no joke in the heat! I mean, it’s like the sun is personally targeting me. I hop on the bus, and it’s packed. I’m squished between a lady with a ton of groceries and a dude blasting reggaeton. I can’t even hear myself think! Finally, I get off at the community center. It’s on Calle 2, and let me tell ya, that place is always buzzing. Today, they were hosting a workshop for the deaf community. I love it! But, OMG, the energy was intense. People were excited, and I was like, “Let’s do this!” But then, bam! A miscommunication happens. Someone thought I was supposed to interpret for a different group. I’m standing there, looking like a deer in headlights. I’m like, “Wait, what?!” My heart’s racing. I’m trying to keep my cool, but inside, I’m like, “This is a disaster!” After a few minutes of chaos, we sorted it out. Phew! I finally got to work with this amazing group of kids. They were so full of life! One kid, Luisito, kept cracking jokes in sign language. I was dying! 😂 He signed, “Why did the chicken cross the road? To get to the other side!” Classic! But then, outta nowhere, the fire alarm goes off. Like, seriously? In the middle of a workshop? Everyone’s panicking, and I’m trying to keep it together. I’m signing, “Stay calm! Let’s go outside!” But my brain is like, “What if this is a real fire?!” We all rush out to the street, and I’m standing there on Calle 3, watching the fire trucks zoom by. I’m thinking, “This is NOT how I pictured my day.” But then, I see the kids laughing and playing. They’re making the best of it, and I can’t help but smile. After the fire drill (thankfully a false alarm), we head back inside. The vibe is still high, and I’m feeling pumped again. We finish the workshop, and I’m feeling all the feels. I love my job! But wait, there’s more! As I’m leaving, I bump into an old friend from high school. We start catching up, and I’m like, “Dude, remember those crazy parties on Calle 4?” We laugh so hard, I almost cry. Then, I head home, and I’m exhausted. But I can’t stop thinking about the day. The ups, the downs, the fire alarm! Trujillo-Alto, you never cease to amaze me. I plop down on my couch, and I’m like, “What a day!” I’m grateful for the chaos, the laughter, and the connections. Life’s a rollercoaster, and I’m here for it! So yeah, that was my day. Just another crazy, beautiful day in Trujillo-Alto. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings! 🌟
