Man, what a day! Seriously, I’m still reeling from it. So, I’m an arborist, right? And today in Aguas-Santas was like a rollercoaster. Buckle up, ‘cause this is gonna be a wild ride. First off, I woke up late. Classic me. Alarm didn’t go off. I jumped outta bed, threw on my work gear, and bolted out the door. I live near Rua da Liberdade, so I had to sprint down to the Praça da República. You know, the one with that fountain? Yeah, that one. I swear, I almost tripped over a stray dog. Like, chill, buddy! So, I finally get to the park, and it’s a beautiful day. Sun’s shining, birds are chirping, and I’m thinking, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Ha! Spoiler alert: it was NOT chill. I start checking on the trees, you know, doing my thing. I’m up in this massive oak on Rua do Comércio, and I’m feeling like a king. Then, outta nowhere, I hear this loud crash. I look down, and some dude just smashed his bike into a lamppost. I’m like, “Bro, you good?” He just groans. Classic Aguas-Santas moment, right? Anyway, I climb down to help him. Turns out, he’s fine, just a bit bruised. But then he starts ranting about how the city needs to fix the roads. I mean, he’s not wrong. Some streets are a mess! Like, have you seen Rua da Escola? It’s like a war zone. Potholes everywhere! After that little detour, I head over to the Jardim das Camélias. Beautiful spot, right? I’m admiring the flowers when I spot this old lady feeding pigeons. She’s got like a hundred of ‘em around her. I’m thinking, “Lady, you’re gonna start a pigeon army!” But she’s sweet, just enjoying her day. Then, bam! My phone buzzes. It’s my boss. “We need you at the other side of town, ASAP!” Ugh, really? So, I hop on my bike and pedal like I’m in the Tour de France. I’m zooming past the Igreja de São Pedro, and I can’t help but think how beautiful it is. But no time for sightseeing, right? I finally get to this park near Rua da Paz, and it’s chaos. Trees down everywhere! A storm last night must’ve done a number on ‘em. I’m talking branches everywhere, like a tree massacre. I’m fuming. Why can’t people just take care of their trees? So, I get to work. Chainsaw in hand, I’m cutting and hauling. Sweat’s pouring down my face. I’m cursing under my breath. “Why do I do this?” But then, I see a kid watching me. He’s got this huge grin, like I’m some kind of superhero. And suddenly, I’m not so mad anymore. After hours of work, I finally finish. I’m exhausted but happy. I look around, and the park looks great again. I’m feeling like a champ. Then, I hear clapping. It’s the kid! He runs up and says, “You’re the best tree guy ever!” Man, that made my day. But then, just when I thought it was over, I get a call from my buddy. “Dude, you gotta come to the bar!” I’m like, “I just worked my butt off!” But he’s persistent. So, I head over to Rua da Alegria. The bar’s packed, and they’re playing fado music. I grab a drink, and suddenly, all the stress melts away. I’m laughing with my friends, sharing stories about the day. It’s moments like this that make it all worth it. So yeah, Aguas-Santas, you crazy little town. You’ve got your quirks, but I wouldn’t trade you for anything. Here’s to more wild days ahead!
