Man, what a day! Seriously, I’m still reeling from it. So, I wake up in Aguiar-da-Beira, right? The sun’s shining, birds are chirping, and I’m like, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Spoiler alert: it was NOT chill. First off, I head down Rua da Liberdade. You know, the one that’s always buzzing with folks? I’m just minding my own business, thinking about sheep and shearing, when BAM! I trip over a cobblestone. Classic me, right? I’m like, “Great start, genius.” Anyway, I finally make it to the sheep farm. It’s just outside of town, near the old chapel. You know, the one that looks like it’s been there since forever? I’m all pumped to shear some wool. But then, I find out the sheep are acting like they’ve had too much coffee. They’re bouncing around like they’re in a rave or something. I’m like, “Chill, guys! I just wanna shear ya!” So, I’m wrestling with these fluffy beasts, and I’m sweating like a sinner in church. And then, outta nowhere, my buddy Miguel shows up. He’s got this huge grin, and I’m like, “What’s up, man?” He tells me he just won a local contest for the best cheese. I’m like, “Dude, that’s awesome!” But then I remember I’m starving. So, I’m happy for him, but also kinda jealous. After the shearing madness, I decide to hit up the café on Rua da Igreja. You know the one with the best pastéis de nata? I’m dreaming of those creamy delights. But when I get there, it’s packed! Like, standing-room-only packed. I’m like, “Seriously? It’s just pastries!” I finally squeeze in, and guess what? They’re out of pastéis! I’m about to lose it. I mean, come on! So, I settle for a bica. Not the same, but whatever. I sit down, and this old guy next to me starts talking about the weather. I’m like, “Dude, it’s sunny. What else is there to say?” But he goes on and on about how it’s been too dry for the crops. I’m nodding, but inside I’m like, “Can I just eat my coffee, please?” Then, I get a text from my sister. She’s in town, and she wants to meet up. I’m like, “Great! More family drama!” But I can’t say no. So, I head over to the park by the river. It’s a nice spot, you know? The water’s flowing, and the trees are all green. But when I get there, she’s late. Classic! While I’m waiting, I see this kid flying a kite. It’s all colorful and stuff, and I’m just standing there, feeling all nostalgic. I used to fly kites with my dad. Then, outta nowhere, the kite gets stuck in a tree. I’m like, “Oh no, not the tree!” The kid starts crying, and I’m like, “C’mon, it’s just a kite!” But I help him out anyway. I climb the tree like a monkey, and finally get it down. The kid’s face lights up, and I’m like, “See? All good!” Finally, my sister shows up, and she’s all flustered. Turns out she got lost on Rua do Comércio. I’m like, “How do you get lost in a small town?” But whatever, we grab some ice cream, and I’m feeling better. As the sun sets, I’m walking back home, thinking about the day. It was a rollercoaster, for sure. From tripping over cobblestones to wrestling sheep, to saving a kid’s kite. Aguiar-da-Beira, man. It’s wild. I love this place, even when it drives me nuts. So, yeah, that was my day. Just another crazy, emotional, unexpected day in Aguiar-da-Beira. Can’t wait to do it all again tomorrow!
