Man, what a day! Seriously, Alijó is wild. I woke up thinking it’d be chill, just another Sunday, right? But nah, life had other plans. So, I’m strolling down Rua da Liberdade, feeling all spiritual and stuff. You know, the sun’s shining, birds chirping, and I’m like, “Today’s gonna be great!” But then, bam! I trip over a cobblestone. Classic me. Almost face-planted. I swear, those stones are out to get me. Anyway, I finally make it to the church. It’s this beautiful old place, all stone and history. I love it. But today? Today was chaos. I walk in, and there’s this couple arguing. Like, full-on shouting. I’m thinking, “Dude, this is a house of God, not a boxing ring!” I try to calm them down. “Hey, folks, let’s take it outside.” But they just glare at me. I mean, c’mon! I’m just trying to help! So, I’m standing there, feeling like a referee in a bad reality show. After that drama, I head to the market on Rua da Praça. Man, the vibe there is electric! Fresh fruits, locals chatting, and the smell of grilled sardines. I love sardines. But then, I see this guy trying to haggle over a bunch of grapes. Like, dude, they’re already cheap! Just buy them! I grab some grapes myself, and they’re juicy as hell. I’m munching away, feeling good. But then, I spot a stray dog. Poor thing looks like it hasn’t eaten in days. My heart breaks. I can’t just ignore it. So, I buy a sandwich and give it to the pup. It’s like I’m a dog whisperer or something. Then, I head over to the viewpoint at Miradouro de São Pedro. The view is insane! You can see the Douro River winding through the valley. I’m standing there, soaking it all in, when suddenly, a gust of wind hits. My hat flies off! I’m chasing it down the hill like a madman. Finally catch it, but I’m out of breath. I laugh it off. “Great job, clergyman!” I say to myself. But then, I see a group of kids playing soccer. They invite me to join. I’m like, “Me? Play soccer?” But hey, why not? So, I’m running around, kicking the ball, and feeling like a kid again. I score a goal! I’m pumped! But then, I trip again. This time, I land right in a puddle. I’m soaked! The kids are laughing, and I can’t help but join in. After all that, I head back to the church. I’m exhausted but happy. I sit on the steps, watching the sunset. Alijó is beautiful, man. The colors in the sky, the sounds of the town winding down. It’s peaceful. But then, I remember the couple from earlier. I hope they made up. Love is complicated, you know? I think about my own life. Sometimes, it feels like a rollercoaster. But days like today remind me why I love this place. Alijó, with its winding streets and vibrant life, is home. Even with the chaos, the laughter, and the unexpected moments, it’s where I belong. And honestly? I wouldn’t trade it for anything. So, yeah, that was my day. Just another wild ride in Alijó. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
