Man, what a day in Aljustrel! Seriously, I’m still buzzing from it. So, I wake up, right? Sun’s shining, birds are chirping, and I’m like, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Spoiler alert: it was NOT chill. First stop, Avenida da Liberdade. I’m guiding a group of tourists, and they’re all hyped about the history. I mean, who wouldn’t be? Aljustrel’s got that vibe, ya know? It’s like stepping back in time. But then, outta nowhere, this dude trips over his own feet. Like, c’mon man, we’re not even five minutes in! I’m trying to keep it together, but I’m dying inside. Then we hit Rua da Igreja. Beautiful street, right? But guess what? The church was closed! I mean, seriously? It’s like the universe was playing tricks on us. I had this whole spiel about the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Fatima planned. Now I’m just standing there, looking like a fool. But then, BAM! A local guy shows up. He’s got this wild story about how he grew up here. He’s talking about the old days, the festivals, and I’m like, “Dude, you’re stealing my thunder!” But honestly, it was cool. The tourists loved it. They were snapping pics, laughing, and I’m just standing there, trying to look important. Next, we stroll down Rua da Liberdade. It’s a cute little street, full of shops and cafes. I’m thinking, “Let’s grab some pastéis de nata.” You know, the good stuff. But nooo, the café was packed! I’m talking a line that could rival a concert. I’m like, “Guys, we’re in Aljustrel! We need these pastries!” Finally, we get to the viewpoint at the top of the hill. The view? Stunning. I mean, you can see the whole town. I’m feeling all philosophical, like, “This is life, man.” But then, I notice a couple arguing. Like, really? You’re gonna ruin this moment? I’m trying to soak in the beauty, and you’re over there bickering about who forgot the sunscreen. But then, outta nowhere, this little kid runs up to me. He’s got a huge smile and hands me a flower. I’m like, “Aww, thanks, buddy!” It’s moments like that that make it all worth it. I mean, who doesn’t love a random act of kindness? As we head back down, I’m feeling all sorts of emotions. Happy, frustrated, surprised. It’s like a rollercoaster. I’m thinking about how Aljustrel is this hidden gem. It’s got history, charm, and a bit of chaos. Just like me, I guess. By the end of the day, I’m exhausted but happy. I’m sitting at a little café on Rua do Comércio, sipping on a bica, and reflecting. Aljustrel, you crazy little town, you’ve got my heart. Can’t wait for tomorrow’s adventure!
