Man, what a day! Seriously, Barrosas is wild. I woke up thinking it’d be chill, just another day in this little corner of Portugal. But nah, life had other plans. So, I hit the streets around 9 AM. The sun was shining, and I was feeling good. I strolled down Rua da Liberdade, you know, the one with all the cute cafés. I grabbed a bica (that’s espresso for ya) at my fave spot, Café Central. The barista, Miguel, always hooks me up with a smile. But today? He spilled coffee all over the counter. I mean, come on, Miguel! I was like, “Dude, you good?” He just laughed it off. Classic Miguel. Then, I decided to walk to the park, Parque de Barrosas. It’s a nice spot, but man, it was packed! Kids running everywhere, dogs barking, and some dude blasting music like he was at a festival. I was just trying to chill, you know? But then, I saw this old lady feeding pigeons. She was so sweet, talking to them like they were her best friends. I couldn’t help but smile. But then, outta nowhere, a pigeon pooped on my shoulder. Like, seriously? I was so mad! I looked up, and the old lady just giggled. I was like, “Thanks for the heads up, lady!” But I couldn’t stay mad. I mean, it’s just a pigeon, right? After that, I decided to head to the market on Rua do Comércio. It’s always buzzing with life. Fresh fruits, veggies, and all that good stuff. I was eyeing some strawberries when I bumped into my buddy, João. He’s always got the latest gossip. Apparently, there’s a new bakery opening up on Rua da Escola. I’m all for pastries, so I’m in! But then, out of nowhere, this guy starts yelling. Turns out, he was arguing with a vendor over prices. I mean, chill, bro! It’s just a few euros! But the guy was red in the face, veins popping. I was like, “Dude, it’s not worth it!” But he didn’t care. Finally, I made my way to the river, the Rio Tâmega. It’s beautiful there, especially at sunset. I sat on a bench, just taking it all in. The water was glistening, and I felt a wave of peace wash over me. But then, my phone buzzed. It was my mom. She was like, “Did you eat today?” Classic mom move. I told her I had coffee and strawberries. She freaked out, “That’s not a meal!” I laughed. As the sun started to set, I headed back home. I took Rua da Igreja, the one with the cute little houses. I love how colorful they are. But then, I tripped on a loose cobblestone. Like, really? I almost face-planted! I looked around, hoping no one saw. But of course, there was a group of kids laughing. I just waved and laughed it off. By the time I got home, I was exhausted. But you know what? It was a day full of surprises. Barrosas, you crazy little town, you never fail to keep me on my toes. I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
