Man, today was a wild ride in Beja. Like, seriously, I thought I was just gonna chill and maybe grab a pastel de nata, but nope. Not in this city. So, I woke up late, as usual. My alarm? Yeah, it totally betrayed me. I jumped outta bed, threw on whatever I could find. I mean, who needs matching socks, right? I rushed outta my flat on Rua da Liberdade, and the sun was already blazing. Like, hello, it’s October, chill out, sun! First stop? Café Alentejo. I needed my caffeine fix. I ordered a bica, and the barista, this dude with a killer mustache, was like, “You want it strong?” I was like, “Bro, I need it to slap me awake!” He laughed, and I felt a bit better. But then, I spilled half of it on my shirt. Classic me. After that, I decided to stroll down Avenida da República. The vibe was chill, people were out and about. I saw this old lady selling flowers. She had the biggest smile, and I thought, “Damn, I need that energy.” I bought a sunflower, not sure why. Maybe I thought it’d brighten my day? Spoiler: it didn’t. Then, outta nowhere, I bumped into my buddy Miguel. He’s always got some crazy story. Today, he was ranting about how he got chased by a goat in the castle ruins. Like, what? A goat? In Beja? I couldn’t stop laughing. We ended up at the Praça da República, just cracking up. But then, the mood shifted. I saw this group of kids playing football, and one of them kicked the ball right into a fountain. I mean, come on! The fountain on Rua de São João is not a goalpost! The kids were all panicking, and I was like, “Chill, it’s just water!” But they were freaking out. I helped them fish it out, and they were so grateful. Made me feel like a hero for a sec. After that, I was feeling good, so I decided to hit up the Beja Regional Museum. I thought, “Let’s get some culture in here.” But, man, it was closed! I was so mad. I mean, who closes a museum on a Wednesday? I stood there like an idiot, staring at the locked doors. So, I wandered over to the old castle. The view from up there is insane. You can see the whole city. I took a deep breath, trying to soak it all in. But then, I got a text from my boss. “Need the game design by EOD.” Ugh, seriously? I was just trying to enjoy my day! I decided to head back home, but on the way, I passed by a street vendor selling chouriço. I couldn’t resist. I bought one, and it was so good. Like, I could’ve eaten ten. I sat on a bench, munching away, feeling like life was good again. But then, I saw a pigeon. This thing was eyeing my chouriço like it was a five-star meal. I swear, it was plotting to steal it. I had to shoo it away, and it just stared at me like, “You think you can eat that in peace?” I laughed. Finally, I made it back to my place. I flopped on the couch, exhausted but happy. Beja, you crazy city, you never fail to surprise me. I love your quirks, your streets, your people. Even when I’m mad, you somehow make it all worth it. So, yeah, that was my day. Full of ups and downs, but that’s life, right? Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings.
