Man, what a day! Seriously, I can’t even. So, I woke up in my tiny flat on Rua da Liberdade, right? The sun was shining, birds were chirping, and I thought, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Spoiler alert: it was NOT chill. First off, I had to head to the lab. You know, the one near the Benavente train station? Yeah, that place. I was running late, of course. I sprinted down Avenida da República, dodging old ladies and their shopping carts like I was in some weird video game. I swear, they move faster than I do. Finally, I get to the lab, and guess what? My experiment blew up. Like, literally. I was trying to mix some chemicals for my research on local flora, and boom! Green goo everywhere. I mean, who knew that mixing stuff could be so dramatic? I was covered in this sticky mess, looking like a science experiment gone wrong. My lab partner, Miguel, just laughed. “You look like a mutant plant!” he said. Thanks, Miguel. Real supportive. After the lab disaster, I needed a break. So, I decided to grab a coffee at my fave spot, Café Central on Praça da República. I ordered my usual—an espresso, strong enough to wake the dead. But the barista, this dude named João, was having a rough day too. He spilled milk all over the counter. I mean, come on! It’s just coffee! I ended up waiting forever. I was about to lose it. But then, I saw this cute dog outside. A golden retriever, just chilling. Instant mood booster! I mean, who can stay mad when there’s a fluffy dog around? So, I finally got my coffee and headed to the park. You know, the one by the river? It’s super pretty there. I sat on a bench, sipping my coffee, and just watched the world go by. Kids were playing, couples were walking hand in hand, and I was just there, feeling all the feels. Then, outta nowhere, this kid runs up to me and asks if I’m a scientist. I was like, “Yeah, kinda.” He goes, “Can you make dinosaurs?” I laughed so hard. “If only, kid. If only.” But then, my phone buzzed. It was my boss. Ugh. He wanted me to come back to the lab. Apparently, the explosion was just the beginning. We had a major issue with the samples. I was like, “Seriously? Can’t a scientist catch a break?” But no, I had to go back. On my way, I took a detour through Rua da Estação. It’s such a cute street, with all those little shops. I stopped by this bakery and grabbed a pastel de nata. Best decision ever! That flaky goodness made everything better. I was practically floating on a cloud of custard and pastry. Back at the lab, things were chaos. Papers everywhere, people running around like headless chickens. I jumped in, trying to help. We worked for hours, and just when I thought we were done, the power went out. Classic, right? We were all standing there in the dark, and I couldn’t help but laugh. “This is just perfect!” I shouted. Everyone else groaned. Finally, after what felt like an eternity, we got everything sorted. I was exhausted but relieved. I stepped outside, and the sunset over Benavente was stunning. The sky was painted in shades of orange and pink. I took a deep breath, feeling grateful despite the madness of the day. As I walked home, I thought about how crazy life can be. One minute you’re covered in goo, and the next you’re watching a beautiful sunset. Benavente, with its charming streets and quirky moments, always keeps me on my toes. I wouldn’t trade it for anything. So yeah, that was my day. Intense, emotional, and full of surprises. Just another day in the life of a scientist in Benavente. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
