Man, what a day! Seriously, I’m still reeling from it. So, I wake up in my little workshop on Rua da Liberdade, right? The sun’s shining, birds are chirping, and I’m like, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Spoiler alert: it was NOT chill. First off, I head to the market at Praça do Comércio. I’m just trying to grab some fresh wood for my violins, ya know? But the market was packed! Like, where did all these people come from? I swear, I almost got elbowed by some old lady fighting for the last piece of cheese. I mean, c’mon, lady! It’s just cheese! Anyway, I finally snagged some nice maple. It’s perfect for that warm sound I love. But then, as I’m leaving, I bump into Miguel. You know Miguel, right? The guy who thinks he’s the next big thing in music. He starts rambling about his “genius” new song. I’m like, “Dude, I’m a violin maker, not a therapist.” But he just keeps going. I’m standing there, nodding, while my brain’s screaming, “Let me go!” After that, I decide to take a stroll down Avenida da Liberdade. Beautiful street, by the way. The trees are all green and the vibe is just... nice. But then, outta nowhere, it starts to rain. Like, seriously? I didn’t even bring an umbrella! I’m dodging puddles like I’m in some weird game of hopscotch. So, I duck into a café on Rua do Comércio. I order a bica (that’s espresso for ya) and try to dry off. The barista, she’s super nice, but she spills coffee all over the counter. I’m like, “Girl, we’re in a café, not a coffee wrestling match!” But we both laugh it off. It’s one of those moments that makes you feel good, ya know? Then, I get this wild idea. I’m gonna make a violin inspired by Cabeceiras-de-Basto! I mean, this place has so much character. The mountains, the rivers, the whole vibe! I can feel the energy. So, I rush back to my workshop, all pumped up. But then, I realize I left my tools at the market. Ugh! I’m so mad at myself. I mean, how could I forget my tools? It’s like a chef forgetting his knife! So, I sprint back to the market, dodging people again. I’m practically yelling, “Excuse me!” and “Watch out!” like I’m in some action movie. Finally, I get my tools back. But guess what? The sun’s out again! I’m soaked, tired, and my hair looks like a wet mop. But I don’t care. I’m ready to create! Back in my workshop, I start shaping the wood. It’s therapeutic, man. I’m lost in the rhythm of carving and sanding. I can almost hear the music already. But then, my neighbor, old Mr. Silva, starts blasting his music. Like, dude, I’m trying to create art here! But I can’t help but chuckle. It’s so bad, it’s good. As the day winds down, I finally finish the violin. It’s beautiful! I can’t wait to play it. I step outside, and the sunset over the mountains is breathtaking. I’m standing there, feeling all the feels. This day was a rollercoaster, but it was mine. Cabeceiras-de-Basto, you crazy little town, you’ve given me a day to remember. I’m exhausted, but I’m happy. And that’s what it’s all about, right?
