Man, what a day! I swear, Cascais is wild. I woke up thinking it’d be just another boring audit day. Nope! Not even close. First off, I hit the streets of Cascais around 8 AM. The sun was shining, and I was like, “Okay, maybe today won’t suck.” I strolled down Avenida Valbom, feeling the vibe. You know, the ocean breeze, the smell of fresh pastries from the local pastelarias. I mean, who can resist a good pastéis de nata, right? But then, bam! My phone buzzes. It’s my boss. “Hey, we need those reports ASAP!” Ugh, typical. I’m like, “Dude, I’m in Cascais, not in a cubicle!” But whatever, I’m an auditor. Gotta do what I gotta do. So, I grab a coffee at this cute little spot on Rua da Assunção. The barista was super chill, but I was too stressed to enjoy it. I mean, I’m in this beautiful coastal town, and I’m stuck thinking about spreadsheets. Talk about a buzzkill. Then, I head to the office. It’s on Rua do Comércio. I walk in, and it’s like a sauna. Seriously, who needs a sauna when you have an office that feels like one? I’m sweating bullets, and my brain’s already fried. I start going through the numbers, and let me tell you, some of these accounts were a mess. I’m talking about more red flags than a bullfighting arena. I’m getting angrier by the minute. Like, how hard is it to keep your books straight? But then, out of nowhere, my colleague Sofia bursts in. She’s like, “Let’s take a break! The beach is calling!” I’m like, “Are you kidding me? I can’t just ditch work!” But she’s persistent. “C’mon, it’s Cascais! You’ll regret it!” So, I give in. We head to Praia da Rainha. OMG, the view! The waves crashing, the sun glistening on the water. I’m instantly happier. We grab some gelato from this place on the corner. I got pistachio, and it was heavenly. But then, disaster strikes. I drop my gelato! Right on the sand. I’m standing there, mouth agape, like, “Nooooo!” Sofia’s laughing her head off. I’m trying to play it cool, but inside, I’m dying. After that, we chill on the beach for a bit. I’m feeling the sand between my toes, and I’m like, “Why do I even stress about work?” But then, my phone buzzes again. It’s my boss. “Where’s that report?” Ugh! I rush back to the office, and I’m trying to focus. But my mind keeps drifting to the beach. The sound of the waves, the sun, the gelato… I’m losing it. Finally, I finish the report. I send it off, and I’m like, “Thank goodness!” But then, I realize it’s already 5 PM. I missed the sunset! I’m so mad at myself. I decide to take a walk along the marina. The boats are bobbing, and the sky is turning all these crazy colors. I’m feeling a mix of emotions. Happy, sad, frustrated. It’s like, why can’t every day be like this? As I’m walking, I bump into this street performer on Rua da Liberdade. He’s playing the guitar, and it’s beautiful. I stop to listen, and for a moment, everything feels right. I toss him a couple of euros, and he gives me a nod. But then, I hear a commotion. Some tourists are arguing over a selfie spot. I roll my eyes. Seriously? It’s just a photo! But then I think, “Hey, I’ve been there.” I used to be that person. Finally, I head back to my car, and I’m exhausted. But I can’t help but smile. Cascais is a rollercoaster. It’s beautiful, chaotic, and full of surprises. I think I need to come back, but next time, I’ll leave the spreadsheets at home. What a day, man. What a day.
