Man, what a day! I swear, being a cooper in Coronado is like riding a rollercoaster blindfolded. So, I wake up, right? Sun’s shining, birds are chirping, and I’m like, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Ha! Spoiler alert: it was NOT chill. First off, I head down Rua da Liberdade. Love that street, but today? Ugh. Traffic was a nightmare. I mean, come on! It’s Coronado, not a parking lot! I’m stuck behind this old dude in a rusty car. He’s going 20 in a 50 zone. I’m like, “Dude, you got somewhere to be or just enjoying the view?” Finally, I get to my workshop on Rua da Paz. You know, the one with the cool mural of the ocean? Yeah, that place. I’m all set to start making barrels, right? But guess what? My tools are missing! Like, who steals a cooper’s tools? Seriously! I’m fuming. I could’ve sworn I left my hammer right there. So, I’m pacing around, trying to calm down. I grab a coffee from that little café on Avenida da República. Best coffee in town, no joke. I’m sipping it, and suddenly, I see this kid, maybe 10 years old, juggling oranges. I’m like, “What the heck?” He drops one, and it rolls right to me. I pick it up, and he’s all, “Hey, that’s mine!” I’m like, “Kid, you dropped it!” But then I just toss it back to him. He grins like he just won the lottery. Made me smile, ya know? After that, I head back to the workshop. Still no tools. I’m about to lose it. I mean, I love Coronado, but today? It’s testing my patience. I decide to take a walk down to the beach. Maybe the ocean will calm me down. Walking along Praia de Coronado, I see the waves crashing. It’s beautiful, man. But then, outta nowhere, this seagull swoops down and snatches my sandwich right outta my hand! I’m standing there, mouth agape, like, “Did that just happen?” I’m laughing and cursing at the same time. Stupid bird! So, I sit on the sand, watching the sunset. It’s gorgeous, all those colors. I start thinking about life, my job, and how I love making barrels. It’s hard work, but it’s mine. I mean, who else gets to say they craft barrels in a place like Coronado? Then, I get a call from my buddy, Miguel. He’s like, “Dude, you won’t believe this!” Apparently, he found my tools! Some guy was trying to sell them at the market on Rua da Alegria. I’m like, “What?!” I rush over there, and sure enough, there’s my hammer, my chisels, everything! I confront the guy, and he’s all, “I thought they were abandoned.” I’m like, “Dude, they’re not trash!” I grab my stuff and head back home, feeling like a hero. I mean, I fought for my tools! I’m back on Rua da Paz, ready to work. The day started rough, but it ended on a high note. Coronado, man. It’s wild. One minute you’re losing your mind, and the next, you’re laughing with a kid or reclaiming your tools. I love this place, even when it drives me nuts. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
