Man, what a day! I swear, being a parachutist firefighter in Fazendas-de-Almeirim is like riding a rollercoaster with no seatbelt. So, I wake up, right? Sun’s shining, birds chirping, and I’m thinking, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Ha! Spoiler alert: it was NOT chill. First call comes in around 9 AM. Some dude on Rua da Liberdade decides to burn trash. Like, who does that? It’s 2023, bro! Anyway, I gear up, hop in the truck, and we zoom over. The streets are packed, as usual. I mean, it’s Fazendas, not exactly a ghost town. I’m dodging potholes on Rua da Paz like I’m in a video game. Get to the scene, and it’s chaos. Smoke everywhere! I’m like, “Great, just what I needed.” I jump out, and my buddy Miguel is already there, trying to put out the flames with a garden hose. A GARDEN HOSE! I’m thinking, “Dude, we’re firefighters, not gardeners!” But hey, whatever works, right? So, I grab my gear and start climbing up the ladder. I’m up there, feeling like a superhero, when suddenly, I see a cat stuck in a tree. Of course! Just my luck. I’m like, “Really? A cat?!” But I can’t just leave it. So, I’m yelling down to Miguel, “Yo, get the cat!” He’s like, “I’m busy!” Ugh, fine. I jump down, save the cat, and it’s all cute and purring. But then it scratches me! I’m like, “Thanks for the love, furball.” After that, we finally get the fire under control. I’m sweating buckets, and my heart’s racing. But hey, at least I saved a cat, right? I’m feeling like a hero. But then, just as I’m about to celebrate, we get another call. This time, it’s on Avenida da República. A car’s on fire. Seriously? We rush over, and it’s a whole scene. People are filming with their phones. I’m like, “C’mon, people! This ain’t a movie!” I’m trying to focus, but the crowd is wild. I mean, it’s Fazendas, and everyone’s got an opinion. “You should do this!” “Try that!” I’m thinking, “Thanks, but I’m kinda busy saving lives here!” So, we get the fire out, and I’m feeling pretty good. But then, I see a kid on a bike zooming past. He’s got no helmet, and I’m like, “Dude, you’re gonna end up in the hospital!” But he just laughs and speeds off. Kids these days, man. Finally, after what feels like a million hours, we wrap up. I’m exhausted, but there’s this weird satisfaction. I mean, I love this job. It’s crazy, it’s intense, and it’s full of surprises. I head back to the station, and my buddies are there, cracking jokes. “You saved a cat, huh?” Yeah, yeah, laugh it up. As I sit down, I can’t help but think about Fazendas-de-Almeirim. It’s a small town, but it’s got heart. The streets, the people, the chaos—it’s all part of the charm. I wouldn’t trade it for anything. So, that’s my day. Full of fires, cats, and a whole lot of craziness. Just another day in the life of a parachutist firefighter. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
