Man, what a day! Seriously, I’m still reeling from it. So, I wake up in my cozy little flat on Rua da Misericórdia, right? The sun’s shining, birds are chirping, and I’m like, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Spoiler alert: it was NOT chill. First off, I head to the café on Praça Velha for my usual bica. You know, the strong stuff that kicks you awake? But guess what? They ran out of coffee! Like, how does a café run out of coffee? I mean, c’mon! I was ready to throw a fit, but I just ordered a pastel de nata instead. Sweet, flaky goodness. At least that made me happy for a sec. Then, I had a session with a client at the Centro de Saúde. This guy walks in, looking like he just rolled outta bed. I mean, dude, it’s 10 AM! Get it together! He starts talking about his life, and I’m trying to be all professional, but inside I’m like, “Bro, you need to sort your priorities.” But hey, I’m a counselor, right? So I listen. After that, I decided to take a stroll down Avenida da Liberdade. It’s a beautiful street, lined with trees and shops. I’m just vibing, thinking about life, when suddenly, I see this street performer. He’s juggling fire! Like, what? I’m all for creativity, but juggling fire? In Guarda? I mean, it’s not exactly Lisbon, dude. But hey, I gotta give him props. I threw him a couple of coins. Then, outta nowhere, it starts pouring! I’m talking torrential downpour. I’m soaked in seconds. I duck into a little shop on Rua do Comércio, and the owner’s like, “Welcome! You look like a drowned rat!” Thanks, buddy. Just what I needed to hear. But he’s cool, offers me a towel and a hot chocolate. Bless him! So, I’m drying off, sipping my hot choco, when I overhear this couple arguing. They’re going at it, and I’m just sitting there, eavesdropping like it’s a reality show. Turns out, they’re fighting about where to eat. Classic! I’m thinking, “Just go to Restaurante O Pátio! It’s amazing!” But I keep my mouth shut. Not my circus, not my monkeys, right? Finally, I head back to my office on Rua da Alegria. Irony, huh? I’m anything but joyful at this point. I sit down, take a deep breath, and think, “What a rollercoaster.” But then, I get a message from a friend. She’s in town and wants to meet up. I’m like, “Yes! Finally, some fun!” We hit up a bar near the Cathedral of Guarda. The vibe is lit! We’re laughing, sharing stories, and I’m finally feeling like myself again. But then, I spill my drink all over my shirt. Classic me! I’m laughing it off, but inside I’m like, “Great, now I smell like beer.” As the night goes on, we wander around the old town. The views from the castle are breathtaking. I mean, you can see the whole city! It’s moments like these that make the chaos worth it. I’m standing there, feeling grateful, even after the wild day. So, yeah, Guarda is a trip. It’s got its quirks, its surprises, and a whole lotta character. Just like me, I guess. I head home, exhausted but happy. What a day, right? Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
