Man, what a day! Seriously, I’m still trying to wrap my head around it. So, I’m an actuary, right? Yeah, I know, boring stuff. But today? Today was anything but boring.
I woke up in Loures, Portugal. Ever heard of it? It’s this chill town just outside Lisbon. Super cozy, but man, it can throw you some curveballs. I was all set to hit the office, crunch some numbers, you know, the usual. But nah, life had other plans.
First off, I’m walking down Rua da Liberdade, and I swear, I see this cat just chilling on a bench. Like, who does that? I’m thinking, “Dude, you’re living the life!” But then, outta nowhere, this old lady starts yelling at the cat. I mean, c’mon! It’s a cat! What’s it gonna do? Pay rent?
Anyway, I finally get to the office, and my boss is in a mood. He’s like, “We need to talk about the new insurance model.” I’m like, “Dude, it’s just numbers!” But he’s all stressed, pacing around like he’s training for a marathon. I’m just trying to keep my cool, but inside, I’m like, “Chill, man! It’s not the end of the world!”
Then, during lunch, I hit up this little café on Avenida dos Estados Unidos da América. Best pastel de nata ever! I mean, I could’ve eaten a dozen. But then, I spill coffee all over my shirt. Classic me, right? I’m standing there, looking like a total mess, and the barista just laughs. I mean, I get it, but c’mon!
After that, I decide to take a stroll. I hit up Parque da Cidade. It’s beautiful, man. Trees everywhere, kids playing, and I’m just trying to soak it all in. But then, I see this group of teenagers blasting music. Like, seriously? It’s a park, not a nightclub! I’m all for having fun, but keep it down, right?
So, I’m walking along Rua da Estação, and I bump into this street performer. He’s juggling flaming torches! I’m like, “Dude, you’re gonna set yourself on fire!” But he’s all smiles, and the crowd is loving it. I can’t help but laugh. It’s wild how people can just let loose like that.
Then, I get a call from my buddy. He’s like, “Let’s hit up that new bar on Rua do Comércio!” I’m thinking, “Why not?” So, I head over. The vibe is lit! But then, I realize I left my wallet at the office. Ugh! I’m so done with today.
But my buddy’s cool. He buys me a drink, and we just chill. We’re talking about life, work, and how crazy Loures can be. I mean, one minute you’re sipping coffee, and the next, you’re dodging flaming torches.
As the night rolls in, I’m feeling good. Loures is beautiful at night. The lights, the sounds, it’s all magical. But then, I see that same cat from the morning. It’s still on the bench! I’m like, “Dude, you really are living the dream!”
So, yeah, today was a rollercoaster. From angry old ladies to flaming jugglers, Loures really knows how to keep you on your toes. I’m exhausted but happy. Life’s too short to take it all seriously, right?
Tomorrow, I’ll be back to the grind. But for now, I’m just gonna enjoy this crazy little town. Cheers to Loures!
