Wow, what a day in Machico! Seriously, I can’t even. So, I woke up, right? Sun shining, birds chirping, all that jazz. I’m like, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Spoiler alert: it was NOT chill. First off, I hit up the Mercado Municipal. You know, the one on Rua da Praia? It’s got all the fresh fish and fruits. I’m there, trying to grab some bananas, and this old dude just cuts in front of me. Like, excuse me? I’m not invisible! I mean, come on, it’s not a race! I was ready to throw a banana at him, but I just rolled my eyes instead. Classic Machico, right? Then, I decided to stroll down to the beach. The Praia de Machico is gorgeous, man. Golden sand, clear water. I thought, “Let’s soak up some sun.” But nooo, the moment I sit down, a seagull swoops in and steals my sandwich! Like, really? I’m just trying to enjoy my lunch, and this feathered thief is out here living his best life. I was so mad! I yelled, “Hey! That’s my food!” But the seagull just looked at me like, “What you gonna do about it?” Ugh! After that, I needed a pick-me-up. So, I hit up this little café on Avenida da Liberdade. They have the best coffee. I ordered a galão, and it was perfect. I was feeling good again. But then, the barista spills it all over the counter. I mean, c’mon! I just wanted a sip of happiness! I laughed it off, though. It’s Machico, things happen, right? Next, I decided to explore the old town. The narrow streets, the colorful houses, it’s all so charming. I walked down Rua do Lameiro, and I swear, I felt like I was in a postcard. But then, I tripped over a cobblestone. Classic me. I fell, and this group of tourists laughed. I got up, brushed myself off, and said, “Yeah, I meant to do that!” They didn’t get my sarcasm. Whatever. Then, I stumbled upon this little art gallery. It was on Rua da Igreja. The paintings were stunning! I was in awe. But then, I overheard this guy saying, “Art is just paint on a canvas.” I almost lost it. Like, dude, it’s so much more! I wanted to school him on the beauty of expression, but I just nodded and smiled. Some battles aren’t worth fighting, ya know? As the sun started to set, I headed to the viewpoint at Pico do Facho. The view was breathtaking! I mean, you could see the whole bay. I felt so small but so alive. I took a deep breath, and for a moment, all the craziness of the day faded away. Just me, the sunset, and the ocean. Perfect, right? But then, my phone buzzed. Work stuff. Ugh! I had to deal with emails while watching this beautiful sunset. Talk about a buzzkill! I was like, “Can’t a person enjoy a moment?” But I powered through. Finally, I wrapped up my day with dinner at a local restaurant. I ordered the espada com banana. It was delicious! I was so happy, I could’ve danced. But then, I saw the bill. Yikes! I almost choked on my food. I mean, I love Machico, but my wallet was crying. So, yeah, that was my day. Full of ups and downs, laughter and frustration. Machico, you’re a wild ride! But I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
