Man, what a day! I swear, Merelim really knows how to throw a curveball. I woke up this morning, thinking it’d be just another chill day with the sheep. You know, just me, my flock, and the beautiful hills. But nah, life had other plans. So, I’m strolling down Rua da Liberdade, just vibing, when I hear this loud honking. Like, seriously? I turn around, and it’s this dude in a tiny car, practically screaming at me. I’m like, “Bro, I’m not a traffic cone!” I mean, come on, I’m just trying to enjoy my morning. Then, I hit up the market at Praça da República. Man, the smell of fresh bread hits you like a warm hug. I grab a couple of rolls, and this old lady starts chatting me up. She’s all like, “You know, back in my day…” and I’m just nodding, trying not to zone out. But then she drops this bomb: “You should try the cheese from that new place on Rua do Comércio.” I’m like, “Okay, lady, I’ll check it out.” Fast forward, I’m at this cheese shop, and wow, the stuff they have! I’m talking about cheese that melts in your mouth. I’m sampling everything, feeling like a king. But then, I see the price tag. My wallet’s crying, man. I’m like, “Do I really need this? Or can I just stick to my sheep’s cheese?” After that, I decide to take a stroll by the river. The sun’s shining, and I’m feeling good. But then, outta nowhere, this kid runs past me, chasing a soccer ball. He kicks it, and boom! Right into the river! I’m laughing, but the kid’s face is priceless. He’s like, “Noooo!” I mean, c’mon, it’s just a ball, right? But then, I see this group of teenagers on the other side of the river, and they’re all laughing and taking selfies. I’m thinking, “Man, I’m too old for this.” But then I remember, I used to be like that. So, I shout across, “Hey! You guys want a pic with a real shepherd?” They look at me like I’m nuts, but one of them comes over. We take a goofy selfie, and I’m like, “This is going on my wall!” Then, I head back to the flock. But guess what? One of my sheep, Baa-bara (yeah, I named her), decides she wants to play hide and seek. I’m running around, calling her name like a madman. “Baa-bara! Get your fluffy butt back here!” I swear, she’s got a mind of her own. Finally, I find her munching on some random grass by the church on Rua da Igreja. I’m like, “Really? You had to pick the fancy grass?” But I can’t stay mad. She’s too cute. As the sun sets, I’m sitting on a hill, watching the sky turn all kinds of colors. Merelim is beautiful, man. I think about how crazy today was. From honking cars to cheese shops, to lost soccer balls and runaway sheep. It’s wild. I head home, tired but happy. I think, “This is life, right?” Just a shepherd in Merelim, living the dream. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings.
