Man, what a day! I swear, Monção really knows how to throw a curveball. Woke up thinking it’d be just another chill day, you know? But nah, life had other plans. So, I’m rollin’ outta bed, still half-asleep, and I remember I gotta head to the funeral home on Rua da Liberdade. Yeah, that’s right, I’m a Mourner. Not the most glamorous gig, but hey, someone’s gotta do it. I grab my coffee, and it’s like liquid gold. I need it. I hit the streets, and wow, Monção is buzzing. The sun’s shining, but it’s that weird kinda hot where you’re sweating but still freezing. Like, what’s up with that? I stroll down Avenida da República, and I see the old folks chillin’ at the café. They’re always there, gossiping about who-knows-what. I love it. But then, BAM! I get a call. It’s my boss. “Hey, we got a last-minute service at the Igreja Matriz.” I’m like, “Seriously? Right now?” I mean, can’t a Mourner catch a break? But duty calls, right? I rush over, dodging tourists and their selfie sticks. Like, chill, people! This ain’t a photo op! I finally get to the church, and it’s packed. I mean, standing-room-only packed. I’m trying to keep it together, but the vibe is heavy. You can feel the grief in the air. Then, outta nowhere, this kid starts crying. Like, full-on wailing. I’m thinking, “Dude, we’re all sad here, but c’mon!” But then I see his mom, and she’s just lost it. It hits me hard. I mean, we’re all here for a reason, right? Life’s short, and it sucks sometimes. After the service, I’m outside, and I bump into this old dude from the neighborhood. He’s always hanging around Praça da República, telling stories. He starts talking about the good ol’ days, and I’m like, “Man, I wish I could’ve seen that.” But then he goes off about how things were better back then. Classic old guy move. I’m trying to be polite, but inside I’m like, “Dude, it’s not that deep.” But I nod and smile. You gotta respect the elders, right? Then, I head over to the market on Rua do Comércio. I need some fresh air and maybe a snack. I grab a pastel de nata, and it’s like heaven in my mouth. Seriously, if you haven’t had one, what are you doing with your life? But then, I see this guy trying to haggle over a tomato. A freakin’ tomato! I’m standing there, shaking my head. Like, bro, it’s a tomato, not a gold bar! But hey, to each their own, right? As I’m munching on my pastry, I get a text. It’s my buddy. “Wanna hit up the bar later?” I’m like, “Dude, I just had a heavy day.” But then I think, “Why not?” Life’s too short to be a downer all the time. So, I finish my snack and head back home. I’m walking down Rua da Estação, and the sunset is just beautiful. Like, the sky’s on fire. I stop for a sec, take it all in. Monção, you’re a gem. Finally, I get home, and I’m exhausted. But I can’t shake off the day. It was wild, emotional, and just… life. I plop down on the couch, and I’m like, “What a ride.” So yeah, Monção, you got me today. You made me laugh, cry, and everything in between. Here’s to more crazy days ahead!
