Man, what a day! Seriously, I can’t even. So, I wake up in Oleiros, right? This chill little town in Portugal, but today? Today was anything but chill. First off, I’m a firefighter. Yeah, you heard me. Dangerous job, right? So, I’m just sippin’ my coffee on Rua da Liberdade, thinking it’s gonna be a normal day. But nah, life had other plans. I get a call. Fire at the old mill near the river. Like, are you kidding me? That place is ancient! I grab my gear, and I’m out the door. I’m sprinting down Avenida da República, dodging old ladies and their shopping bags. They move like they own the place, I swear. I finally get to the mill, and it’s chaos. Flames are shooting up like they’re auditioning for a movie. I’m like, “Great, just what I needed.” My heart’s racing, and I’m trying to keep my cool. But then, I see this kid, maybe 10 years old, standing there, eyes wide. He’s just staring at the fire like it’s a fireworks show. I’m like, “Dude, get back!” So, I rush over, scoop him up, and haul him away. He’s all, “But it’s so cool!” I’m like, “Yeah, cool until it burns your eyebrows off!” Kids, man. They don’t get it. We finally get the fire under control. I’m drenched in sweat, and my heart’s still pounding. I look around, and there’s this old guy on Rua do Comércio, shaking his head. He’s like, “You kids don’t know how to handle fire.” I’m thinking, “Dude, I just saved a kid’s life. Chill!” After that, I’m feeling kinda pumped, right? Like, I did something good today. But then, I get a call about a cat stuck in a tree. Seriously? A cat? I’m like, “Can’t someone else handle this?” But nope, it’s my job. So, I head over to this house on Rua da Escola. The lady is freaking out. “Fluffy’s up there! You have to save him!” I’m rolling my eyes, but whatever. I climb the tree, and there’s Fluffy, just chilling. I swear, he looks at me like, “What’s the big deal?” I grab him, and he’s all, “Meh.” I’m like, “You little furball, you almost gave me a heart attack!” I hand him back to the lady, and she’s crying. I’m like, “It’s just a cat, lady!” But hey, whatever makes her happy, right? By now, I’m starving. I hit up this little café on Rua da Igreja. Best pastéis de nata in town, no joke. I’m sitting there, scarfing down pastries, when I overhear this couple arguing. They’re going off about the best beach in Oleiros. I’m like, “Dude, it’s Praia da Figueira, hands down!” But they’re all, “No way, it’s Praia do Osso da Baleia!” I’m just shaking my head. People get so worked up over the dumbest stuff. Finally, I head home, exhausted. I plop down on my couch, and I’m just thinking about the day. It was wild. I mean, I saved a kid, rescued a cat, and listened to some ridiculous arguments. Oleiros, man. It’s got its quirks, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Just another day in the life of a firefighter, right?
