Man, what a day! Seriously, I’m still reeling from it. So, I’m a telephone operator in Oliveira-do-Bairro, right? And lemme tell ya, today was a rollercoaster. First off, I roll into work at the crack of dawn. The sun’s barely up, and I’m already on the phone. You know how it is. Oliveira-do-Bairro is a small town, but it’s got its quirks. Like, I swear, every time I pick up the phone, it’s either someone asking for directions to Rua da Liberdade or complaining about the traffic on Avenida da República. Like, dude, it’s a small town! How bad can it be? But today? Oh boy. So, I’m chatting with this lady, right? She’s lost. Classic. She’s like, “Where’s the nearest café?” I’m like, “Lady, you’re literally two blocks from Café Central!” But she’s all flustered, and I’m trying to keep my cool. I mean, it’s not my fault she can’t read a map. Then, outta nowhere, my buddy Miguel calls. He’s at the market on Rua 25 de Abril, and he’s freaking out. Apparently, he dropped his phone in a fish tank. Like, who does that? I’m dying laughing, but he’s all serious. “Help me, man!” So, I’m like, “Dude, just get a new one!” But he’s convinced he can save it. Good luck with that, Miguel. After that, I get this call from an old man. He’s rambling about the good ol’ days in Oliveira-do-Bairro. You know, back when the streets were cobblestone and everyone knew each other. I’m like, “Yeah, yeah, I get it. But can you please tell me what you need?” He just wants to chat. I mean, I get it, but c’mon! I got work to do! Then, the real kicker. I get a call from the mayor’s office. They’re like, “We need you to spread the word about the festival this weekend.” I’m like, “Sure, but can you tell me what festival?” Turns out, it’s the Festa de São Miguel. I’m all for it, but I’m also like, “Why didn’t anyone tell me sooner?” I mean, I love a good party, especially when there’s food involved. But then, I hear this commotion outside. I peek out the window on Rua da Liberdade, and there’s a parade! A freakin’ parade! I’m missing it while stuck on the phone! I’m so mad, I could scream. But then I see the kids dancing and the floats, and I can’t help but smile. Oliveira-do-Bairro knows how to throw a party, that’s for sure. By the end of the day, I’m exhausted. My head’s spinning with all the calls. I’m happy, I’m mad, I’m everything in between. I just wanna go home, kick back, and forget about the chaos. But you know what? I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Oliveira-do-Bairro may be small, but it’s got heart. And that’s what makes it home. So, yeah, that was my day. Just another wild ride in Oliveira-do-Bairro. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
