Man, what a day! Seriously, I can’t even. So, I wake up in Oliveira, right? The sun’s shining, birds are chirping, and I’m like, “Today’s gonna be epic!” Spoiler alert: it was, but not in the way I thought. First off, I hit up the local café on Rua da Liberdade. Best coffee ever! I mean, I’m a diver, not a barista, but this stuff? Liquid gold, I swear. I grab my usual, a galão, and sit outside. The vibe is chill, people walking by, some old dude feeding pigeons. Classic Oliveira, man. Then, boom! My phone buzzes. It’s my dive buddy, Miguel. He’s like, “Dude, meet me at the marina. We got a surprise!” I’m thinking, “What surprise? Did he find a treasure chest or something?” So, I chug my coffee and head over to the marina on Avenida da República. When I get there, Miguel’s all hyped. He’s like, “Check this out!” He points to this old boat. I mean, it looks like it’s been through a war. I’m like, “You serious? We’re diving off that rusty thing?” But Miguel’s got that glint in his eye. You know the one. So, we hop on. The boat’s rocking like crazy. I’m trying not to lose my breakfast. We head out to the coast near Praia da Granja. The water’s looking good, but I’m still thinking about that boat. Like, what if it sinks? Finally, we get to our spot. I’m all geared up, heart racing. I dive in, and whoa! The underwater world is insane! Fish everywhere, coral, it’s like a freaking aquarium. I’m swimming around, feeling like a mermaid or something. But then, outta nowhere, I see this net. It’s all tangled up in the coral. I’m like, “No way! This is a mess!” So, I start to untangle it. I’m underwater, holding my breath, and I’m getting all frustrated. Like, why do people litter? It’s Oliveira, not a trash can! After what feels like forever, I finally get it free. I’m feeling like a hero, right? But then, I look up, and I see Miguel waving frantically. I swim up, and he’s like, “Dude, we gotta go! The boat’s drifting!” I’m like, “Are you kidding me?” So, we swim back, and the boat’s like a hundred meters away. I’m panicking, thinking, “Great, I’m gonna be stranded in the Atlantic!” We finally catch up, and I’m outta breath. Miguel’s laughing, and I’m like, “Not funny, man!” But then, we both just start cracking up. It’s one of those moments, you know? After that chaos, we head back to the marina. I’m soaked, tired, but happy. We grab some bifanas at a little spot on Rua da Estação. Best post-dive food ever! I’m shoving it in my face, and Miguel’s telling me about this crazy dive he did in the Azores. Then, outta nowhere, this storm rolls in. I’m talking dark clouds, wind, the whole shebang. We’re like, “Let’s get outta here!” So, we bolt back to the car, laughing like idiots. By the time I get home, I’m exhausted. I flop on my bed, thinking about the day. Oliveira’s wild, man. One minute you’re diving, the next you’re running from a storm. But that’s what makes it awesome. So, yeah, that was my day. Full of surprises, laughter, and a bit of chaos. Just another day in Oliveira!
