OMG, what a day! So, I’m a babysitter, right? And today was just... wow. I mean, I thought I was just gonna chill in Peso-da-Regua, but nah, life had other plans. First off, I get to the house on Rua da Alegria. Perfect name, right? Spoiler alert: it wasn’t that joyful today. The kids, oh man, they were bouncing off the walls. Like, seriously, I thought I was babysitting a pack of wild monkeys. I’m talking about João and Maria, ages 6 and 8. They’re cute, but they’ve got energy for days. So, we start with some coloring. I’m like, “Let’s make some art!” But then, João spills juice all over the table. Juice everywhere! I’m standing there like, “Are you kidding me?” I mean, it’s not like I brought a mop to Rua do Comércio. I’m just trying to keep it together. After the juice fiasco, we head out to the park by the Douro River. It’s beautiful there, like postcard material. The sun’s shining, the river’s sparkling, and I’m thinking, “Okay, maybe this day will turn around.” But nope! Maria decides she wants to climb a tree. I’m like, “Girl, you’re gonna fall!” But she’s all, “I’m fine!” Classic kid, right? So, I’m standing there, half panicking, half laughing. She’s up there like a squirrel, and I’m just praying she doesn’t take a tumble. And then, outta nowhere, this dog runs by. A big one, like a bear! It freaks Maria out, and she jumps down. I’m like, “See? Told ya!” But she’s just mad at the dog now. Kids, man. Then we decide to grab ice cream at this little shop on Avenida da Liberdade. I’m thinking, “Finally, some peace!” But no, João can’t decide between chocolate and vanilla. He’s standing there like it’s the biggest decision of his life. I’m like, “Dude, just pick one!” Finally, he goes with chocolate, and I’m like, “Phew, we made it!” But then, he drops it. Ice cream everywhere! I’m just standing there, mouth agape, like, “Really?!” I mean, it’s like the universe is testing me today. After the ice cream disaster, we head back home. I’m exhausted, but we pass by the old train station. It’s so cool, right? I love how Peso-da-Regua has that mix of old and new. But then, I see this old guy trying to fix his bike. He’s struggling, and I’m like, “Do I help him?” But I’m too tired. I feel bad, but I’m also like, “I’ve got two kids to wrangle!” Finally, we get back home, and I’m just ready to collapse. But wait! The kids wanna play hide and seek. I’m like, “Seriously? I just wanna sit!” But I can’t say no. So, I’m counting, and they’re hiding. I find them in like, two seconds. They’re terrible at this game! By the end of the day, I’m a hot mess. I’m sitting on the couch, and the kids are finally winding down. I’m thinking, “Okay, maybe today wasn’t so bad.” But then, João looks at me and says, “You’re the best babysitter ever!” And I’m like, “Aww, thanks, buddy!” So, yeah, Peso-da-Regua, you’ve got my heart. Even with the chaos, the juice spills, and the ice cream disasters, I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Just another day in the life, right?
