Man, what a day! Seriously, I’m still reeling from it. So, I woke up in Poiares, right? The sun was shining, birds chirping, all that cliché stuff. I thought, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Spoiler alert: it wasn’t. First off, I hit the streets of Rua da Liberdade. You know, the one that’s always buzzing with life? I’m just minding my own business, thinking about my next watch project, when BAM! I bump into this old dude. He’s like, “Watch where you’re going!” I’m like, “Bro, I’m a watchmaker. I literally watch where I’m going.” He didn’t laugh. Rude. Anyway, I finally get to my shop on Rua da Igreja. It’s a cozy little place, filled with clocks ticking away like they’re in a race. I love it. But today? Ugh. My main tool, the one I need for fixing this fancy watch, goes missing. Like, poof! Gone! I’m searching everywhere. Under the counter, in the drawers, even in the back where I keep the old parts. Nothing. I’m sweating bullets, thinking, “Did I really lose my best tool?!” Then, outta nowhere, my buddy Miguel strolls in. He’s got this huge grin, and I’m like, “Dude, not now!” But he’s all hyped about the festival happening later. “You gotta come, man! It’s gonna be epic!” I’m like, “Yeah, sure, after I find my tool.” He just laughs and says, “You’re too serious, man!” Finally, I find the tool. It was in my toolbox. Classic me, right? I’m relieved, but then I remember the festival. I can’t miss it! So, I close up shop early. I head over to the Praça da República. It’s packed! Food stalls everywhere, people dancing, music blasting. I’m feeling the vibe. I grab a bifana – you know, that delicious pork sandwich? Best decision ever. I’m munching away, and this kid runs by, almost knocks me over. I’m like, “Hey, watch it, kid!” But he just giggles and keeps running. Kids, man. Then, I spot this old lady selling handmade jewelry. She’s got these beautiful pieces, and I can’t help but admire them. I think about how I should make some cool watch designs inspired by her work. But then, I remember I’m broke. So, I just smile and wave. As the sun sets, the atmosphere changes. The lights come on, and everything looks magical. I’m feeling all warm and fuzzy inside. But then, I hear this loud argument. Some guy is yelling at his girlfriend. I mean, c’mon, dude! Not the place for that! I roll my eyes and move on. I bump into Miguel again. He’s dancing like a maniac. I can’t help but laugh. “You look ridiculous!” I shout over the music. He just winks and pulls me into the dance. I’m not a dancer, but whatever. I let loose. Then, out of nowhere, it starts to rain. Like, really rain. Everyone’s scrambling for cover. I’m soaked, but I’m laughing. It’s ridiculous! We all end up huddled under this awning, sharing stories and jokes. I realize, this is what life’s about. By the end of the night, I’m exhausted but happy. I walk home through the quiet streets of Poiares, thinking about how crazy today was. I mean, from losing my tool to dancing in the rain, it was a rollercoaster. I get home, plop on my couch, and just smile. Poiares, you wild little town, you never fail to surprise me. Can’t wait for tomorrow!
