Man, what a day! I swear, being an auctioneer in Povoa-de-Lanhoso is like riding a rollercoaster with no seatbelt. So, I wake up, right? Sun’s shining, birds chirping, and I’m like, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Ha! Spoiler alert: it wasn’t. First off, I hit the streets of Rua da Igreja. Beautiful, right? But then I see this old lady, bless her heart, struggling with her groceries. I’m like, “C’mon, let me help ya!” So, I grab a couple of bags, and she starts telling me her life story. I mean, I love a good chat, but I got an auction to run! She’s going on about her cat, Miau, and how he thinks he’s a dog. I’m just nodding, thinking, “Lady, I gotta go!” Finally, I escape and head to the auction house on Avenida da Liberdade. It’s packed! People everywhere, buzzing like bees. I’m setting up, and my mind’s racing. I’m thinking about the vintage wine we got today. It’s supposed to be top-notch, but I’m sweating bullets. What if no one bids? What if I trip over my own feet? Ugh! Then, boom! The auction starts. I’m up there, and the energy is electric. I’m calling out bids, and it’s like a dance. But then, outta nowhere, this guy in the back starts yelling. “I’ll give you 50 euros for that!” I’m like, “Dude, it’s a Picasso, not a sandwich!” But hey, I roll with it. Gotta keep the crowd entertained, right? And then, just when I think it can’t get crazier, my phone buzzes. It’s my buddy João. He’s like, “Dude, you won’t believe this! The fountain in Praça do Almada is spewing green water!” I’m thinking, “What the heck? Is it St. Patrick’s Day already?” I can’t help but laugh. Only in Povoa-de-Lanhoso, man. So, I’m back to the auction, and the bids are flying. I’m feeling like a rockstar. But then, I spot a couple of guys in the corner. They’re whispering, and I swear, they look shady. My gut’s telling me something’s off. I’m trying to focus, but they keep glancing at me. I’m like, “What’s your deal, fellas?” Finally, I call them out. “Hey! You got something to say?” They just smirk and go back to their drinks. I’m fuming. Like, c’mon, respect the hustle! But I shake it off. I’m not letting anyone ruin my vibe. As the auction wraps up, I’m on a high. We sold that wine for a crazy amount! I’m feeling like a champ. But then, I step outside, and it hits me. The sun’s setting over the mountains, and it’s beautiful. I take a deep breath, and for a second, all the chaos fades away. But wait! I remember the fountain! I gotta see this green water. So, I sprint over to Praça do Almada. And there it is! A bunch of kids laughing, splashing around. I can’t help but join in. I’m soaked, but who cares? We’re all just having a blast. By the end of the day, I’m exhausted but happy. Povoa-de-Lanhoso, you wild little town, you never cease to amaze me. From old ladies and Picasso bids to green fountains and laughter, it’s all part of the ride. Can’t wait to do it all again tomorrow!
