Man, what a day! I swear, if I had a euro for every crazy thing that happened in Rio Tinto today, I’d be rich. So, I wake up, right? Sun’s shining, birds chirping, and I’m like, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Ha! Spoiler alert: it wasn’t. First off, I’m heading down Rua da Liberdade, and I trip over some loose bricks. Classic me. I’m cursing like a sailor, and this old lady just looks at me like I’m the devil. I mean, come on! It’s not my fault the city’s got more potholes than a Swiss cheese! Anyway, I finally get to the workshop on Rua da Paz. You’d think it’s peaceful, but nah. My buddy Miguel is already there, blasting some weird techno music. I’m like, “Dude, we’re carpenters, not DJs!” But he just laughs and cranks it up. I can’t even hear myself think. So, we’re working on this custom table for some fancy restaurant in Porto. They want it made from this rare wood. I’m sweating bullets, trying to cut it right. And then, bam! The saw jams. I’m wrestling with it like it’s a wild animal. I’m about to throw it out the window when Miguel just strolls over, takes a look, and says, “You gotta treat it nice, bro.” Like, what? It’s a saw, not a pet! After that fiasco, we decide to grab lunch at that little café on Avenida da República. Best bifana in town, no joke. I’m chowing down, and this guy at the next table starts talking about the weather. I’m like, “Dude, it’s Portugal, it’s always sunny!” But he’s going on about how it’s gonna rain next week. I’m thinking, “Who cares? I’m not a meteorologist!” Then, outta nowhere, this kid runs in, all panicked. He’s like, “Help! My dog’s stuck in a tree!” I’m just staring at him, thinking, “How does a dog get stuck in a tree?” But Miguel, being the hero he is, jumps up and says, “Let’s go!” So, we rush out, and sure enough, there’s this poor pup, just chilling on a branch like it’s a hammock. We end up climbing the tree, and I’m thinking, “This is not in my job description.” But we get the dog down, and the kid is crying happy tears. I’m feeling all warm and fuzzy inside, like I just saved the world or something. After that, we head back to the workshop, and I’m still buzzing from the whole dog rescue thing. But then, I get a call from my girlfriend. She’s like, “We need to talk.” Oh boy, that’s never good. Turns out, she’s mad I forgot our anniversary. I’m like, “Babe, I’m a carpenter, not a calendar!” But she’s not having it. So, I’m trying to fix things, and Miguel’s just laughing at me. “You’re in trouble, man!” Thanks, buddy. Real supportive. Finally, the day winds down, and I’m exhausted. I’m walking home down Rua do Comércio, and I see the sunset over the hills. It’s beautiful, and for a second, I forget all the chaos. I think about how Rio Tinto’s got its quirks, but it’s home. I get home, and I’m ready to crash. But then I remember I gotta make it up to my girl. So, I whip up a quick dinner, and I’m praying she’ll forgive me. What a day, right? From tripping over bricks to saving a dog, to almost losing my girlfriend. Just another day in Rio Tinto, I guess. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
