Man, what a day! I swear, being a forester in Santa-Cruz-do-Bispo can be a wild ride. So, I wake up, right? Sun’s shining, birds chirping, and I’m like, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Ha! Spoiler alert: it was NOT chill. First off, I head down Rua da Liberdade. Love that street, it’s got this vibe, ya know? But then, BAM! I trip over a loose cobblestone. Like, seriously? Who’s in charge of this place? I’m a forester, not a stuntman! I’m hopping around like a fool, trying not to spill my coffee. Finally, I get to the park near the Igreja de Santa Cruz. Beautiful spot, man. Trees everywhere, birds singing. I’m feeling good. But then I see this group of kids. They’re climbing trees, which is cool, but they’re also throwing rocks. Like, what the heck? I’m all about nature, but come on! I march over, channeling my inner dad. “Hey, kiddos! Trees are friends, not targets!” They just laugh at me. Kids these days, right? After that, I decide to chill at the café on Rua da Escola. Grab a pastel de nata, my guilty pleasure. But guess what? They’re out! Out! I’m like, “What kind of café runs out of pastéis?” I mean, c’mon! So, I settle for a bica. Not the same, but whatever. Then, I get a call from my buddy Miguel. He’s like, “Dude, you gotta come to the beach!” I’m thinking, “Beach? I’m a forester, not a beach bum!” But I can’t resist. So, I hop on my bike and pedal down to Praia de Santa Cruz. The ride is nice, wind in my hair, feeling free. But when I get there, it’s packed! Like, where did all these people come from? I can’t even find Miguel. I’m wandering around, dodging sunbathers and kids with ice cream. I finally spot him by the water, looking like a lobster. Classic Miguel. We hit the waves, and I’m trying to surf. Spoiler: I suck. I wipe out like a million times. But it’s hilarious! I’m laughing, the ocean’s splashing, and for a moment, I forget about the trees and the rocks and the pastéis. Just me and the sea. But then, outta nowhere, this seagull swoops down and snatches my sandwich! I’m standing there, mouth agape, like, “Did that just happen?” Miguel is rolling on the sand, laughing his head off. I’m mad, but also kinda impressed. That bird’s got skills! As the sun starts to set, we sit on the beach, watching the sky turn all these crazy colors. I’m feeling grateful, ya know? Life’s a mess, but moments like this make it worth it. Finally, I head back home, exhausted but happy. I ride past the old windmill on the way, and I can’t help but smile. Santa-Cruz-do-Bispo, you’re a wild place, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything. So yeah, that was my day. Full of ups and downs, but that’s life, right? Just gotta roll with it. And maybe next time, I’ll check if the café has pastéis before I go.
