Man, what a day! I swear, Santiago do Cacém really knows how to throw a curveball. Woke up thinking it’d be just another boring day, you know? But nah, the universe had other plans. So, I’m cruising down Rua da Liberdade, right? Just me and my coffee, feeling all chill. Then BAM! I hit a pothole. Like, seriously? Who’s in charge of these roads? I almost spilled my coffee all over my favorite shirt. Not cool, Santiago, not cool. Anyway, I get to the site, and it’s chaos. I’m an estimator, so I’m supposed to be all about the numbers, but today? Today was a circus. The foreman, Carlos, is losing his mind. He’s yelling about some missing materials. I’m like, “Dude, chill! It’s just wood!” But he’s all, “No, it’s not just wood! It’s the wood!” I mean, come on, it’s not like we’re building a palace here. Then, I decide to take a breather. I stroll over to the Praça da República. It’s a nice spot, you know? People chilling, kids playing, and I’m just trying to soak it all in. But then, outta nowhere, this kid runs past me, and I swear he almost knocked me over. I’m like, “Hey, watch it, mini tornado!” But he just giggles and keeps running. Kids these days, right? After that, I head to the market on Rua 1º de Maio. I’m thinking, “Let’s grab some snacks.” I’m eyeing these pastries, and my mouth is watering. But guess what? They’re all sold out! I’m standing there like a sad puppy. The lady behind the counter just shrugs. I’m like, “Really? You couldn’t save one for me?” So, I’m back at the site, and things are still a mess. I’m trying to figure out costs, and my brain’s fried. I mean, how do you estimate when everything’s in disarray? I’m scribbling numbers, crossing them out, and just feeling the pressure. I can feel my blood pressure rising. Then, out of nowhere, my phone buzzes. It’s my buddy Miguel. He’s like, “Hey, you wanna hit the beach later?” I’m like, “Dude, I’m knee-deep in chaos here!” But then I think, “Why not?” A little beach time could do me good. So, I wrap up my estimates, finally get everything sorted (thank goodness), and head to Praia da Aberta Nova. The sun’s setting, and it’s beautiful. I can’t help but smile. The waves are crashing, and I’m just standing there, soaking it all in. But then, I see this seagull. And not just any seagull. This dude is on a mission. He swoops down and snatches a sandwich right outta some guy’s hand! I’m dying laughing. Like, who knew seagulls had such guts? As the sun dips below the horizon, I realize today was a rollercoaster. From potholes to missing wood, to beach laughs, Santiago do Cacém really knows how to keep it interesting. I’m exhausted but happy. Life’s wild, man. And I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
