Man, what a day! I swear, Trafaria really knows how to throw a curveball. So, I’m up early, right? The sun’s barely peeking over the horizon, and I’m already sweating like a pig. I’m a charcoal burner, so you know, I’m used to the heat. But today? Today was something else. First off, I’m walking down Rua da Liberdade, and I’m just minding my own business, thinking about how I’m gonna sell my charcoal. You know, the good stuff, the kind that makes your grilled sardines taste like heaven. Suddenly, I hear this loud crash. I turn around, and there’s this old lady, bless her heart, she’s just toppled over her shopping cart. I rush over, thinking, “Oh man, not today!” But she’s laughing! Like, c’mon, lady, you just fell! But she’s like, “It’s just a bit of cabbage!” I couldn’t help but chuckle. Only in Trafaria, right? So, I help her up, and she insists on giving me a bag of those cabbages. I’m like, “Nah, I’m good,” but she’s not having it. “Take it! You’ll need it for your stew!” I mean, who can argue with that? So now I’m walking around with a bag of cabbages. Great. Just what I needed. Then I hit up the market on Rua da Praia. Man, it’s packed! Everyone’s out, buying fish, bread, you name it. I’m trying to sell my charcoal, but no one’s interested. They’re all about that fresh catch from the river. I get it, but c’mon! My charcoal is the best! I’m standing there, feeling like a ghost. Invisible. And then, outta nowhere, this kid runs by, kicks a ball, and BAM! Right into my charcoal stack. I’m like, “Are you kidding me?” My heart drops. I’m about to lose it. But the kid just laughs and runs off. I’m standing there, charcoal all over the place, and I can’t help but laugh too. It’s just one of those days, I guess. After that, I decide to take a breather. I head over to the waterfront. The view from there is just stunning. You can see the Tagus River stretching out, and the sun glistening off the water. It’s beautiful, man. I sit down on a bench, just taking it all in. I’m thinking about life, about how I’m just a charcoal burner in this crazy world. But then, I see a couple of fishermen down by the docks. They’re pulling in their nets, and I can’t help but feel a bit envious. They’ve got that camaraderie, that brotherhood. Suddenly, I hear this loud honking. I look up, and it’s a boat, a big one, coming in hot. It’s the ferry from Lisbon! I can’t believe it. I’ve seen it a million times, but today it feels different. It’s like a reminder that there’s a whole world out there. I start daydreaming about hopping on that ferry, leaving all this behind. But then I remember my cabbages. Can’t leave those behind! So, I head back to the market, and guess what? I finally sell some charcoal! A couple of guys are grilling up some sardines, and they need the good stuff. I’m feeling like a champ! I’m all smiles, and they’re like, “This is the best charcoal we’ve ever used!” I’m thinking, “Yeah, that’s right!” But then, just as I’m about to pack up, it starts pouring. I mean, outta nowhere! I’m running for cover, cabbages flying everywhere. I’m soaked, my charcoal’s getting wet, and I’m just standing there, laughing like a madman. Only in Trafaria, right? By the time the rain stops, I’m a mess. But I don’t care. I’ve had a day full of surprises, laughter, and a bit of chaos. I head home, cabbages in one hand, charcoal in the other, and I can’t help but think, “Man, I love this place.” Trafaria, you wild little town, you’ve got my heart.
