Man, what a day! I’m tellin’ ya, being a telephone operator in Valega is like riding a rollercoaster blindfolded. So, I wake up, right? Sun’s shining, birds are chirping, and I’m like, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Spoiler alert: it wasn’t. First call comes in at 8 AM. It’s this dude, totally frantic, like he’s just seen a ghost or something. “Help! My cat’s stuck in a tree on Rua da Liberdade!” I’m like, “Bro, chill. Cats climb down.” But no, he’s convinced it’s a life-or-death situation. I mean, c’mon, it’s just a cat! But I get it, I love my dog too. Anyway, I send the fire brigade. They’re probably just gonna roll up, laugh, and rescue Mr. Whiskers. Then, around 10, I get a call from this lady on Avenida da República. She’s all, “My neighbor’s music is too loud!” I’m like, “Lady, it’s 10 AM! What do you expect?” But she’s livid. I mean, I get it, but c’mon, it’s Valega! We’re known for our lively spirit, right? So, I tell her to maybe join the party instead of complaining. She didn’t find that funny. Oops. Lunchtime rolls around, and I’m starving. I decide to grab a bifana from that little spot on Rua da Estação. Best decision ever! I’m munching away, and suddenly, the power goes out. Like, seriously? In the middle of my lunch? I’m sitting there, half a sandwich in my mouth, thinking, “This is how the world ends.” But then, the lights flicker back on. Phew! Back to work, and the calls just keep coming. I get this guy who’s lost his way in Valega’s maze of streets. “I’m on Rua do Comércio, but I can’t find my car!” I’m like, “Dude, you’re in the heart of the city! Just look for the big fountain!” But he’s panicking, and I’m trying not to laugh. Valega’s not that big, man! Then, around 3 PM, I get a call that makes my blood boil. This guy is complaining about the potholes on Rua da Alegria. I mean, I get it, they’re bad, but c’mon! It’s not like I’m the mayor! I’m just here to connect calls, not fix the roads! I tell him to call the city council. He’s not happy. Whatever, dude. By 5 PM, I’m exhausted. But then, a surprise! A call from a kid, maybe 10 years old. “Hi! I just wanted to say thank you for helping my mom!” Aww, man, that hit me right in the feels. I’m like, “You’re welcome, buddy! Keep being awesome!” That made my day. Finally, I wrap up my shift. I’m walking home, and the sunset over Valega is just stunning. The colors are wild, like a painting. I think about all the craziness today. The cat, the loud music, the lost guy, and the potholes. It’s all part of this wild ride we call life in Valega. So, yeah, that was my day. Full of ups and downs, but wouldn’t trade it for anything. Valega, you crazy city, you keep me on my toes!
