Man, what a day! I swear, being a swineherd in Vila-Real is never boring. So, I wake up, right? Sun’s shining, birds chirping, and I’m like, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Ha! Spoiler alert: it wasn’t. First off, I head down Rua da Liberdade. You know, the one with all the cafés? I’m thinking, “Coffee first, pigs later.” But nooo, the barista spills my coffee all over the counter. I’m like, “Dude, I just wanted caffeine, not a coffee shower!” He laughs, I laugh, but inside I’m fuming. I mean, come on! Then I stroll over to the Mercado Municipal. Love that place! Fresh veggies, meats, and all that good stuff. But guess what? The butcher, old Miguel, is outta my favorite chorizo. I’m like, “Miguel, what’s up with that?!” He just shrugs. I could’ve sworn I saw a tear in my eye. No chorizo? What’s life without chorizo? After that, I’m wandering down Avenida de São Sebastião. It’s a nice street, you know? Trees, people, life. But then, BAM! A pigeon poops on my shoulder. Like, really? I’m just trying to enjoy my day! I look up, and that pigeon’s just staring at me like it owns the place. I’m ready to throw hands with a bird. So, I’m mad, right? But then I see this little kid, maybe 5 years old, running around with a balloon. He trips, and the balloon flies away. I’m like, “Oh no, not the balloon!” But then he starts laughing. Just giggling like it’s the best day ever. I can’t help but smile. Kids, man. They get it. Next, I head to the park by the Igreja de Nossa Senhora da Conceição. It’s a beautiful spot. I sit on a bench, trying to chill. But then, this group of teenagers starts blasting music. I’m talking full-on concert vibes. I’m like, “Hey, I’m trying to enjoy nature here!” But they’re vibing, and honestly, it’s kinda catchy. I find myself tapping my foot. Then, outta nowhere, I get a call from my buddy, João. He’s like, “Yo, let’s hit up the bar later!” I’m like, “Sure, but I’m covered in pigeon poop and coffee!” He laughs and says, “That’s just Vila-Real style, bro!” I can’t even argue with that. As the sun sets, I’m walking back home through Rua de Trás. The sky’s all pink and orange, and I’m feeling kinda grateful. Yeah, the day was wild, but it’s my wild. Vila-Real is my home, with all its quirks and craziness. I finally get home, and guess what? My pigs are all chillin’ in the yard, snorting away. I’m like, “See? You guys get it.” I plop down on the grass, and for a moment, everything’s perfect. Just me, my pigs, and the chaos of Vila-Real. So yeah, that was my day. Full of ups and downs, but wouldn’t trade it for anything. Vila-Real, you crazy, but I love ya!
