Man, what a day! I’m an ichthyologist, right? So, you’d think I’d be chillin’ with fish all day. But nah, today was a rollercoaster in Baraolt. Like, seriously, who knew this little town could throw so much at ya? First off, I woke up late. Alarm didn’t go off. Classic! I had a meeting at the local fishery on Strada 1 Decembrie. Rushed outta my apartment on Strada Mihai Viteazul, barely had my coffee. I mean, who needs caffeine when you’ve got adrenaline, right? So, I’m sprinting down the street, dodging potholes like they’re ninja stars. And then, boom! I trip over a stray cat. This little furball just looks at me like, “Dude, really?” I’m like, “Sorry, bro, I’m late for fish stuff!” Finally, I make it to the fishery. And guess what? They’re outta the fish I needed for my research. I’m standing there, fuming. Like, how do you run outta fish? It’s a fishery! I could feel my blood boiling. I mean, c’mon, it’s not rocket science! But then, outta nowhere, this old guy named Ion shows up. He’s got this huge grin and a bucket of fish. I’m like, “Where’d you get those?” Turns out, he just caught them in the Olt River. I’m thinking, “Dude, you’re my hero!” We start chatting, and he tells me about the river. Olt is like the lifeblood of this place. It’s got history, man. He says it’s full of surprises. I’m like, “Yeah, like me tripping over a cat?” He laughs, and suddenly, I’m not mad anymore. After that, I decide to take a stroll down Strada Libertății. It’s a cute street, full of little shops and cafes. I pop into this bakery, and oh man, the smell! Fresh bread, pastries, the works. I grab a cozonac. It’s like a sweet bread, and it’s heavenly. I’m munching away, feeling like a king. But then, I see this group of kids playing soccer. They’re kicking the ball around, having a blast. I’m standing there, reminiscing about my childhood. I used to be a soccer star—well, in my head, at least. I shout, “Hey, can I join?” They look at me like I’m nuts. I mean, I’m in a button-up shirt and khakis. Not exactly soccer gear. So, I just watch them. They’re good! I’m impressed. But then, one of them kicks the ball too hard, and it goes straight into a fountain. Water everywhere! I’m laughing so hard, I almost choke on my cozonac. Kids are scrambling, trying to fish it out. I’m like, “You guys need a fish expert?” As the sun starts to set, I head over to the local park. It’s called Parcul Central, and it’s beautiful. The trees are all golden and red. I sit on a bench, just soaking it all in. I think about how crazy today was. From tripping over a cat to meeting Ion and eating cozonac. Then, I see a couple walking by, holding hands. They look so happy. I’m like, “Aww, love is in the air.” But then I remember I’m single. Ugh! I roll my eyes. Anyway, I finally head back home, exhausted but happy. Baraolt, you wild little town, you’ve got my heart. I can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings. Maybe more fish, less cats? Who knows! But I’m ready for it. Bring it on!
