Man, what a day! I swear, being a cashier in Bascov is like riding a rollercoaster with no seatbelt. So, I roll into work at the supermarket on Strada 1 Decembrie. It’s a chill morning, right? But then, bam! The first customer is this old dude. He’s got a cart full of stuff, like he’s preparing for the apocalypse or something. I mean, who needs 10 packs of toilet paper? Anyway, I’m scanning his items, and he starts telling me about his cat. Like, dude, I’m just trying to do my job here! But he’s all, “Fluffy needs her special food!” I’m like, “Cool, man, but Fluffy ain’t paying for this.” Then, outta nowhere, the power goes out! Just my luck, right? The lights flicker, and I’m standing there like a deer in headlights. Customers start freaking out. One lady yells, “Is this a joke?” Nah, lady, it’s just Bascov being Bascov. So, I’m trying to keep it together. I mean, we’re on Strada Calea București, and it’s not like I can just close up shop. I grab my phone, and I’m like, “Let’s see if I can get some light.” I’m scrolling through my contacts, and guess who I see? My buddy, Alex. He’s always down for a laugh. I text him, “Dude, bring a flashlight!” While I’m waiting, I start chatting with the customers. There’s this one guy, super chill, wearing a Bascov football jersey. He’s all, “You know, this reminds me of that time at the park.” I’m like, “What park?” He’s talking about Parcul Central, and I’m just nodding, pretending I know what he’s on about. Finally, Alex shows up with a flashlight, and it’s like a scene from a horror movie. I’m shining it around like I’m searching for ghosts. Customers are laughing, and I’m just relieved. But then, the power comes back! Lights flicker on, and everyone cheers like we just won the World Cup or something. But wait, it gets better. A lady comes up to me, and she’s like, “I need to return this!” She’s holding a half-eaten chocolate bar. I’m like, “Lady, you can’t return food!” She’s all, “But it was stale!” I’m thinking, “Maybe you should’ve checked before munching!” By now, it’s lunchtime, and I’m starving. I’m dreaming of a kebab from that little place on Strada Mihai Viteazul. You know the one? Best kebabs in Bascov, hands down. But no, I gotta stay here and deal with more customers. Then, this kid runs in, like a tornado. He’s got a toy dinosaur, and he’s roaring like it’s the end of the world. I can’t help but laugh. Kids are wild, man. I wish I could be that carefree again. As the day drags on, I’m just trying to keep my sanity. I’m ringing up this lady, and she’s got a million coupons. I’m scanning, scanning, and she’s like, “Did you get the one for the discount on the bread?” I’m like, “Lady, I’m not a walking coupon book!” Finally, it’s closing time. I’m exhausted, but I can’t help but smile. Bascov is crazy, but it’s my crazy. I love this place, even with all the madness. I step outside, and the air is fresh. I can see the mountains in the distance, and it’s beautiful. I head to that kebab place, and man, it’s worth the wait. I grab my food, and I’m just sitting there, thinking about the day. It was wild, emotional, and totally unexpected. But that’s life in Bascov, right? Always an adventure.
