Man, what a day! Seriously, I can’t even. So, I wake up in Calan, right? The sun’s blaring through my window on Strada 1 Decembrie. I’m like, “Ugh, not today!” But ya know, life doesn’t care about my plans. First thing, I hit up the local bakery on Strada Libertății. Best croissants ever! I grab one, and it’s still warm. I’m thinking, “This is gonna be a good day.” Spoiler alert: it wasn’t. So, I’m munching on my croissant, walking down Strada Mihai Viteazul, and boom! I trip over a pothole. Like, seriously? Who’s in charge of these roads? I’m about to start a petition. “Fix the potholes of Calan!” Sounds catchy, right? Anyway, I finally make it to the park near the city center. It’s all chill, people are jogging, kids are playing. I sit on a bench, just vibing. Then, outta nowhere, this kid runs by and spills his ice cream all over me. I’m like, “Dude, really?” But then I see his face, and it’s so sad. I can’t even be mad. I just laugh it off. Then, I decide to check out the market on Strada Calea București. It’s packed! I love the energy, but man, it’s like a jungle in there. I’m dodging people left and right. I see this old lady selling flowers. She’s got the biggest smile. I buy a bunch of sunflowers. They’re bright and cheerful, just like me—well, most days. But then, I hear this commotion. Some guy is yelling about something. Turns out, he’s trying to sell “magic” potions. I’m like, “Dude, this ain’t Hogwarts!” But I can’t help but stop and listen. He’s got this wild story about how his potions can make you rich. I’m thinking, “If only it were that easy!” After that, I’m feeling kinda adventurous, so I head to the old castle ruins on the outskirts. It’s a bit of a trek, but I love the history. I’m climbing around, feeling like Indiana Jones. Then, I slip on some mud and land right in a puddle. Great. Just great. Now I’m muddy and my sunflowers are squished. But wait, it gets better! I’m walking back, and I see this street performer on Strada Unirii. He’s playing the accordion, and it’s actually kinda good. I stop to watch, and before I know it, I’m dancing like a fool. People are laughing, and I’m just living my best life. As the sun sets, I’m feeling all the feels. Calan is beautiful at dusk. The lights come on, and everything glows. I grab a coffee from my favorite spot on Strada Tineretului. It’s cozy, and the barista knows my order. I feel like a regular, ya know? But then, I get a text from my buddy. He’s stuck in traffic on the way to meet me. I’m like, “Dude, it’s Calan, not New York!” I can’t help but roll my eyes. Finally, we meet up at the square. We’re laughing about my day, and I’m telling him about the ice cream kid and the magic potions. He’s cracking up, and I’m just glad to have a friend who gets it. So yeah, that was my day in Calan. Full of ups and downs, but that’s life, right? I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Even with the potholes and the mud. It’s home.
