Man, what a day! I’m tellin’ ya, being a lifeguard in Ulmeni is like riding a rollercoaster with no seatbelt. So, I roll up to the beach, right? It’s a sunny day, perfect for chillin’ at Lacul Ulmeni. The vibe is good, people laughin’, kids splashing around. I’m thinkin’, “Today’s gonna be a breeze.” Spoiler alert: it wasn’t. First off, I’m stationed at the main beach, near Strada Principala. You know, the spot where all the action is. I’m just sittin’ there, watchin’ the waves, when I see this kid, maybe 10 or so, runnin’ like a maniac. He trips, faceplants right into the sand. I’m like, “Dude, you okay?” He pops up, covered in sand, and starts laughin’. I can’t help but chuckle. Kids are resilient, man. Then, outta nowhere, this lady starts yellin’. I look over, and she’s freakin’ out ‘cause her floatie got away. It’s just driftin’ away like it’s on a vacation of its own. I’m like, “Lady, it’s a floatie, not a pet!” But she’s all dramatic, waving her arms like she’s signaling a plane. I dive in, swim out, and grab that floatie. She’s so grateful, you’d think I just saved her from a shark or somethin’. I’m like, “Chill, it’s just a floatie!” After that, things get wild. I’m back on my post, and I see this group of teens on Strada Tineretului. They’re blasting music, havin’ a party right there on the beach. I’m thinkin’, “Great, just what I need.” But then, one of ‘em slips and falls into the water. I’m ready to jump in, but he pops up, laughin’ like a dolphin. I can’t help but laugh too. It’s contagious, ya know? But then, BAM! A storm rolls in. Outta nowhere! The sky goes dark, and the wind starts howlin’. I’m like, “What the heck?!” I start blowin’ my whistle, tryin’ to get everyone outta the water. People are lookin’ at me like I’m crazy. “It’s just a little rain!” they say. I’m like, “Nah, bro, this is a full-on monsoon!” I’m runnin’ up and down the beach, shoutin’ at folks to get to safety. I’m soaked, hair’s a mess, but I’m not givin’ up. Finally, I get everyone to the pavilion near Strada Luncii. We’re all huddled together, lookin’ like a bunch of wet cats. I’m tryin’ to keep the mood light, crackin’ jokes. “Hey, at least we’re not in a horror movie, right?” Then, just when I think it can’t get crazier, I spot a dog. This little furball is runnin’ around, totally unfazed by the storm. I’m like, “Dude, where’s your owner?” The dog jumps into the water, and I’m like, “Oh no, not another rescue!” But the pup swims like a champ. I’m just standin’ there, laughin’ and shakin’ my head. After the storm passes, the sun comes back out. It’s like the universe is playin’ tricks on us. I’m exhausted but happy. I look around, and everyone’s chillin’ again, laughin’ and takin’ selfies. I’m sittin’ on my lifeguard chair, thinkin’ about how wild this day was. Ulmeni, man. It’s got its quirks. The streets, the people, the unexpected chaos. I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Just another day in paradise, right?
