Man, what a day! I’m tellin’ ya, being a lifeguard in Viseu-de-Jos is like riding a rollercoaster, but without the safety bar. So, I roll up to the beach at 9 AM, sun’s blazin’, and I’m thinkin’, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Spoiler alert: it wasn’t. First off, I’m settin’ up my spot near Strada Principală. You know, the main drag where all the action is? I’m just getting my sunscreen on, and boom! A kid runs past me, trippin’ over his own feet, and spills his ice cream all over my flip-flops. Like, seriously? I’m not a trash can, dude! But I just laugh it off. Kids, right? Then, outta nowhere, this group of teenagers shows up. They’re blasting music from a speaker like they’re at a festival or something. I’m like, “Hey, keep it down!” But they just look at me like I’m some old dude. Whatever, I’m not here to be the fun police. But man, I can’t focus with that noise. Around noon, things get wild. I see this guy, totally not paying attention, trying to impress his girlfriend. He dives into the water like he’s Michael Phelps or something. But guess what? He can’t swim! I’m like, “Oh no, not today!” I jump in, and it’s like a scene from Baywatch. I’m swimmin’ like a dolphin, and I finally grab him. He’s flailing around, and I’m just thinkin’, “Dude, chill! You’re not gonna drown on my watch!” After that, I’m feelin’ like a hero, right? But then, I look over at Strada Tineretului, and there’s this old lady trying to set up her beach chair. She’s struggling, and I’m like, “C’mon, I can’t save everyone!” But I can’t help it. I run over, help her out, and she’s all grateful, bless her heart. She even offers me some homemade cookies. I mean, who can say no to cookies? But then, the day takes a turn. I see a couple arguing near the water. It’s getting heated, and I’m like, “Not my circus, not my monkeys.” But then, the guy throws his sunglasses into the sea! Like, dude, what are you doing? I’m just standing there, shaking my head. People are wild, man. By 3 PM, I’m exhausted. I’m sittin’ on my lifeguard chair, just trying to catch a break. But nooo, here comes a group of kids, splashing water everywhere. I’m like, “Guys, chill! This isn’t a water park!” But they just laugh and keep going. I can’t help but smile. Kids have that magic, you know? As the sun starts to set, I’m feeling all kinds of emotions. Happy, tired, a bit annoyed, but mostly grateful. Viseu-de-Jos is my home, and even with all the craziness, I wouldn’t trade it for anything. The streets, the people, the beach—it’s all part of the vibe. Finally, I pack up my stuff, ready to head home. I’m walking down Strada Florilor, and I can’t help but think about the day. It was chaotic, but it was mine. I love this place, even when it drives me nuts. So yeah, that was my day. Just another wild ride in Viseu-de-Jos. Can’t wait to do it all over again tomorrow!
