Man, what a day! I’m tellin’ ya, being a lifeguard in Borås (SE) is like riding a rollercoaster with no seatbelt. So, I roll up to the beach at Stadsparksbadet, right? It’s a sunny day, and I’m thinkin’, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Spoiler alert: it was NOT chill. First off, I’m settin’ up my station, just me and my trusty whistle. I’m lookin’ out at the water, and it’s glistening like a million diamonds. But then, BAM! A kid runs past me, trippin’ over his own feet. I’m like, “Dude, watch where you’re goin’!” He just laughs and keeps runnin’. Kids, man. They’re wild. So, I’m sittin’ there, watchin’ the waves, when I spot this group of teenagers at the edge of the water. They’re screamin’ and splashing like they’re in some kinda water fight. I’m thinkin’, “Great, just what I need.” But then, one of ‘em, this girl with bright pink hair, slips and goes under. My heart drops. I blow my whistle like a madman. “Get outta the water!” I shout. Turns out, she just wanted to show off her diving skills. Ugh! I’m relieved but also kinda annoyed. Like, come on, girl! You can’t just go under like that! Then, outta nowhere, this old dude on a paddleboard drifts by. He’s just chillin’, sipping on a soda. I’m like, “Bro, you’re not even paddling!” He just grins and says, “I’m on vacation, man.” I can’t even be mad. I mean, who wouldn’t wanna float around on a sunny day in Borås? But then, the real drama starts. A storm rolls in. I’m talkin’ dark clouds, thunder, the whole shebang. I’m yellin’ at everyone to get outta the water. “Yo, it’s not safe! Get to the shore!” But these kids? They think it’s a game. I’m about to lose it. Finally, I manage to herd everyone back. I’m soaked, my whistle’s practically useless, and I’m just standing there, lookin’ like a drowned rat. But hey, at least I saved some lives, right? After the storm passes, the sun comes back out. I’m sittin’ on my lifeguard chair, tryin’ to dry off, when this little kid walks up to me. He’s got ice cream all over his face. “You’re my hero!” he says. I can’t help but smile. That’s what it’s all about, right? Then, I see my buddy, Erik, rollin’ up on his bike. He’s got this goofy grin, and I know he’s got some wild story. Turns out, he got chased by a goose at the park on Viskaforsvägen. I’m laughin’ so hard, I almost fall off my chair. As the day winds down, I’m thinkin’ about how crazy Borås is. From the beautiful canals to the quirky shops on Allégatan, this place is full of surprises. I love it here, even on the wildest days. So, yeah, that was my day. Full of chaos, laughter, and a bit of drama. Just another day in the life of a lifeguard in Borås. Can’t wait to do it all again tomorrow!
