Man, what a day! Seriously, Kiruna is wild. I woke up thinking it’d be just another boring Tuesday. Nope! Not in this town. First off, I’m a biochemist, right? So, I’m usually knee-deep in test tubes and lab coats. But today? Today was a rollercoaster. I strolled down the streets of Kiruna, like, “Hey, let’s see what’s up.” I hit up the main drag, the famous Gamla Kyrkan street. That church is a beauty, but I was more focused on my coffee fix. So, I’m at this café, sipping my latte, and boom! I spill it all over my notes. Ugh! I was so mad. Like, come on! I just wanted to enjoy my caffeine. But then, I look out the window, and there’s this crazy snowstorm. I mean, it’s mid-April, and it’s snowing like it’s December. Kiruna, you’re killing me! After that, I decided to brave the weather. I mean, I’m a biochemist, not a snowflake! I walked down to the LKAB mine. Did you know it’s one of the largest iron ore mines in the world? Crazy, right? I was all hyped to see it, but the wind was like, “Nah, you’re not going anywhere.” I felt like a human kite. Then, I met this local dude, Lars. He’s a character! He’s all about the Sami culture and starts telling me about reindeer herding. I’m like, “Dude, I’m just trying to get to the mine.” But he’s super passionate, and I can’t help but get sucked in. He even offered me some reindeer jerky. Not gonna lie, it was surprisingly tasty! But then, I got angry again. I lost my way! I was trying to find the Kiruna City Hall, and I ended up on a random street. I swear, I walked in circles like a lost puppy. I was like, “Where the heck is Storgatan?” I finally found it, but my feet were frozen. And then, the best part! I finally made it to the city hall, and it’s this cool modern building. I was so stoked. I took a pic, and guess what? My phone died! Just my luck, right? I was like, “Seriously, Kiruna? You’re testing me!” But then, I saw the Northern Lights. OMG! It was like the sky was on fire. I forgot all my frustrations. The colors were insane—greens, purples, blues. I stood there, mouth agape, like a total tourist. I felt so small, but in a good way. As I walked back, I thought about how Kiruna is this mix of old and new. The old wooden houses, the new buildings, and the crazy weather. It’s like a biochemist’s dream—so many reactions happening all around! I finally got home, exhausted but happy. I flopped on my couch, thinking about how this day was a wild ride. Kiruna, you’ve got my heart. Even if you made me spill coffee, lose my way, and freeze my toes off. I can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
