Man, what a day! I swear, Brežice really knows how to throw a curveball. So, I wake up, right? Sun’s shining, birds chirping, and I’m like, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Spoiler alert: it was NOT chill. First off, I’m an anticorrosion agent, which sounds fancy but really just means I deal with rust and metal stuff. I roll outta bed, grab my coffee from that little café on Trg Svobode. You know the one? The barista there is a legend. She knows my order by heart. Anyway, I’m sipping my coffee, feeling all good, when I get a call. “Yo, we got a situation!” my boss says. Great. Just great. Apparently, some old bridge on Cesta 1. maja is rusting like it’s been through a zombie apocalypse. I’m like, “Dude, I just wanted a chill day!” But nope, duty calls. I hop on my bike, zooming through the streets. Brežice is beautiful, man. The old castle up on the hill, the Sava River flowing like it owns the place. But I’m not here for sightseeing. I’m on a mission! I get to the bridge, and wow, it’s worse than I thought. I mean, it looked like it was about to collapse any second. I’m checking it out, and I’m fuming. Who let this happen? I mean, come on! It’s like letting your dog run wild in a park full of squirrels. Just irresponsible! While I’m there, I see this kid, maybe 10 years old, trying to fish in the river. He’s got this tiny rod, and I’m thinking, “Dude, you’re not catching anything but a cold.” But he’s all smiles, and it kinda makes me happy. Kids have that magic, you know? Then, outta nowhere, this old lady comes up to me. She’s like, “You’re the anticorrosion guy, right?” I’m like, “Uh, yeah?” She starts telling me about how her husband built that bridge back in the day. I’m thinking, “Wow, history right here!” But then she goes on about how it’s falling apart, and I’m like, “Yeah, I’m working on it, lady!” After a few hours of inspecting and taking notes, I finally get to work. I’m spraying this anticorrosion stuff everywhere. It’s like a science experiment gone wild. I’m sweating, cursing under my breath, and just wishing I was back at that café. Then, just when I think I’m done, I hear this loud crash. I turn around, and some dude on a bike just wiped out right in front of me! I’m like, “Dude, are you okay?” He’s laughing, saying he was trying to impress some girl. Classic Brežice moment, right? Finally, after what feels like forever, I finish up. I’m exhausted but kinda proud. I saved the bridge! Well, for now, at least. I ride back home, and the sunset over the Sava is just stunning. I stop for a sec, take it all in. I get home, and I’m like, “What a day!” I plop down on my couch, and all I can think about is how Brežice is full of surprises. One minute you’re dealing with rust, the next you’re chatting with an old lady about her husband’s legacy. So yeah, that was my day. Full of ups and downs, but that’s life, right? Brežice, you crazy little town, you never fail to keep me on my toes!
