Man, what a day! I’m tellin’ ya, being an arborist in Cerknica is like a rollercoaster ride. So, I wake up, right? Sun’s shining, birds are chirping, and I’m like, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Spoiler alert: it wasn’t. First stop, I’m at the park by the Cerknica Lake. You know, that place where the water disappears sometimes? Crazy, right? Anyway, I’m checking out this old oak tree. It’s massive, like, “I’m the king of the forest” kinda vibe. I’m all set to do some pruning, and boom! A squirrel jumps outta nowhere. I swear it looked like it was ready to throw down. Like, chill, dude, I’m not here to mess with your home! So, I’m up in the tree, feeling like a ninja. I’m cutting branches, and suddenly, I hear this loud crash. I’m like, “What the heck?” I look down, and some guy on the street—Škofja Loka Street, to be exact—just knocked over his bike. He’s cursing like a sailor. I can’t help but laugh. I mean, come on, dude, it’s just a bike! After that, I head over to the main square. You know, where all the cafes are? I’m thinking, “Time for a coffee break.” I grab a cup from this little place called Caffe Bar Kovač. Best coffee in town, no joke. But then, I see this group of kids playing soccer. They’re kicking the ball around, and guess what? They kick it right into my coffee! Ugh! I’m like, “Really? My caffeine fix?!” But then, I see one of the kids, this little dude, he’s got the biggest smile. He runs over, all apologetic, and hands me a donut. I mean, who can stay mad at that? I take a bite, and it’s like heaven. Sweet, sugary goodness. I’m back in a good mood, just like that. Next, I’m off to check on some trees along the Ljubljanska Cesta. I’m walking, minding my own business, when I spot this old lady. She’s trying to carry her groceries, and I’m like, “No way, lady, let me help you.” So, I grab a couple of bags, and she starts telling me stories about Cerknica back in the day. I’m talking about when the lake was full all the time, and people would fish like crazy. It’s wild how much history is packed into this little town. But then, outta nowhere, I hear this loud honking. I turn, and it’s a car zooming down the street. I’m like, “Dude, slow down! This ain’t a racetrack!” The driver just gives me a look like I’m the crazy one. I mean, come on! Safety first, right? Finally, I wrap up my day at the Cerknica Castle. I love that place. It’s got this vibe, you know? I’m sitting there, looking at the sunset, and it hits me. This town, with all its quirks and craziness, it’s home. I wouldn’t trade it for anything. So yeah, that was my day. Full of ups and downs, laughs and a few “are you kidding me?” moments. Just another day in Cerknica, where the trees are tall, the squirrels are feisty, and the coffee is always worth the spill. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
