Man, what a day! I’m tellin’ ya, being a telephone operator in Ljubljana is like riding a rollercoaster blindfolded. So, I wake up, right? Sun’s shining, birds are chirping, and I’m like, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Spoiler alert: it was NOT chill. First call comes in at 8 AM. Some dude on the other end is all frantic. “I can’t find my way to Prešeren Square!” Like, bro, it’s literally the heart of the city! I’m tryin’ to explain, “Just follow the river, man!” But he’s like, “What river?” I’m like, “The Ljubljanica, duh!” I swear, some people just don’t get it. Then, I get another call. This lady is screaming about her cat. “My cat’s stuck on a roof on Trubarjeva!” I’m like, “Lady, it’s a cat, not a lion!” But she’s all panicked. So, I’m like, “Okay, call the fire department.” I mean, they’re just down the street, right? After that, I take a breather. I look out the window. The view of Ljubljana Castle is just stunning. I mean, who wouldn’t wanna live here? But then, I see this guy trying to sell flowers on the street. He’s got this huge bouquet, but it’s like, wilted and sad. I’m like, “Dude, you gotta step up your game!” Next call, it’s a tourist. “Where’s the best gelato?” I’m like, “Bro, you gotta hit Cacao on Wolfova! Best stuff ever!” I can practically taste it. But then, I remember I’m on a diet. Ugh, life is cruel. Then, bam! My phone rings again. It’s my buddy Marko. He’s stuck in traffic on Slovenska cesta. “Help me, man! I’m gonna be late for work!” I’m like, “Dude, just take a shortcut through Tivoli Park!” But he’s all, “I don’t know the way!” I’m like, “Seriously? Just follow the signs!” By noon, I’m frazzled. I grab a quick lunch at a little place on Stari trg. The food is bomb, but the waiter is super slow. I’m like, “C’mon, man! I got calls to take!” Finally, I get my food, and it’s worth the wait. After lunch, I’m back at it. Another call comes in. “I lost my wallet on Metelkova!” I’m like, “Dude, that’s a party zone! Good luck finding it!” But I try to help anyway. Then, I get a call from a guy who’s just mad. “Why is the tram late?” I’m like, “Dude, it’s Ljubljana! Trams are like, on their own schedule!” But he’s not having it. I’m just trying to keep my cool. Finally, the day starts winding down. I’m exhausted. I look out the window again. The sunset over the river is gorgeous. I think about how lucky I am to work in such a beautiful city. But then, my phone rings one last time. It’s a kid. “Can you help me find my mom?” I’m like, “Where are you?” He’s like, “I’m at the Dragon Bridge!” I’m like, “Dude, just wait there! She’ll find you!” As I hang up, I can’t help but laugh. What a day! Ljubljana, you crazy city. You keep me on my toes! I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
