Man, what a day! I woke up in my little shack near the forest, the smell of burnt wood still lingering from last night’s charcoal burn. You know, the usual grind. But today? Oh boy, today was a whole different story. So, I head into Metlika, right? First thing I notice is the sun shining like it’s trying to blind me. I’m like, chill out, sun! I’m just a charcoal burner, not a vampire! I stroll down the main street, Trg svobode, and it’s buzzing. People everywhere, like ants on a sugar hill. I stop by this little bakery on Ulica 1. maja. You gotta try their pastries, man! I grab a kremšnita, and it’s like heaven in my mouth. But then, outta nowhere, this kid bumps into me. I spill half my kremšnita! I’m like, “Hey, watch it, kid!” But he just laughs and runs off. I’m fuming, but whatever, right? I keep walking, trying to shake it off. I pass by the Metlika Castle. It’s this old beauty, standing tall. I think about how many charcoal burns I could do with all that wood! Just kidding, I wouldn’t burn down a castle. But seriously, it’s a cool spot. Then I hit the market on Ulica Kranjska. Fresh fruits, veggies, and all that jazz. I’m eyeing some apples when this old lady starts chatting me up. She’s like, “You know, back in my day…” and I’m thinking, lady, I’m just here for apples! But she’s got stories, man. I can’t help but listen. Suddenly, I hear this loud crash. I turn around, and it’s a guy on a bike, totally wiped out. I can’t help but laugh. I mean, come on! He gets up, brushes himself off, and yells, “I’m okay!” But we all know he’s not. I’m like, “Dude, you sure?” After that, I decide to chill by the Kolpa River. It’s beautiful there, the water sparkling. I sit on a bench, just soaking it all in. But then, this group of tourists shows up, and they’re so loud! I’m trying to enjoy nature, and they’re like, “Look at the fish!” I’m like, “Yeah, they’re fish. What’s the big deal?” But then, one of them drops their phone in the river. I can’t help but chuckle. Instant karma, right? They’re freaking out, and I’m just sitting there, sipping my coffee, thinking, “This is better than TV.” As the day goes on, I bump into some old pals at the pub on Ulica Šolska. We’re laughing, sharing stories, and I’m feeling good. But then, someone brings up politics, and the mood shifts. I’m like, “Guys, let’s not ruin a good time!” But they keep going. I’m just trying to enjoy my beer, you know? Finally, I head back home, exhausted but happy. Metlika’s got its quirks, for sure. But it’s my town. I love the chaos, the people, the stories. Even the kid who spilled my kremšnita. So yeah, that was my day. Just another wild ride in Metlika. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
