Man, what a day! I’m tellin’ ya, being a carpenter in Miklavz-na-Dravskem-Polju is like riding a rollercoaster blindfolded. So, I wake up, right? Sun’s shining, birds chirping, and I’m thinkin’, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Ha! Spoiler alert: it wasn’t. First off, I head down to Ulica 1. maja. You know, the main drag. I’m cruisin’ along, coffee in hand, feelin’ like a boss. But then, bam! I hit a pothole. Like, seriously? Who’s in charge of these roads? I spill my coffee all over my favorite flannel. Great start, huh? So, I get to the workshop, and my buddy Jure is already there. He’s like, “Dude, you won’t believe what happened!” I’m thinkin’, “What now?” Turns out, he’s been working on this custom table for some fancy restaurant on Ulica Kranjčeva. And guess what? He accidentally used the wrong wood. I mean, who uses pine for a high-end joint? I’m laughin’ so hard, I almost drop my tape measure. Then, we get a call from a client. This guy wants a whole new deck built in his backyard. I’m like, “Sure, no prob.” But then he mentions he lives on Ulica Trg svobode. I’m thinkin’, “Oh great, that’s the one with the steep hill.” I’m not a fan of lugging heavy wood uphill. But hey, a job’s a job, right? So, we load up the truck. I’m sweating bullets already. We get to the guy’s place, and it’s a beautiful spot. I mean, the view of the Drava River? Stunning! But then, the client starts nitpicking every little thing. “I want it to look rustic but modern.” Like, dude, what does that even mean? I’m about to lose it. After a few hours of back and forth, we finally get to work. I’m hammering away, and I swear, I hit my thumb. Ouch! I let out a string of curses that would make a sailor blush. Jure just laughs. “You okay there, champ?” I’m like, “Yeah, just building character!” Then, outta nowhere, it starts pouring. I mean, it’s like the sky opened up. We scramble to cover the wood, but it’s too late. Everything’s soaked. I’m standing there, drenched, and I can’t help but laugh. “Welcome to Miklavz, right?” But then, something amazing happens. A couple of kids from the neighborhood come by. They’re all giggles and smiles, splashing in puddles. One of them, a little girl, looks up at me and says, “Mister, you’re like a superhero!” I’m like, “Me? Nah, I’m just a carpenter.” But it hit me. In that moment, I felt like I was doing something cool. After the rain, the sun comes out again. We finish the deck, and it actually looks pretty sweet. The client is happy, and I’m feelin’ like a champ. We pack up, and I’m ready to head home. But wait! On the way back, I decide to swing by the local bakery on Ulica Šolska. Best pastries in town, no contest. I grab a couple of kremšnite. Man, they’re heavenly! I’m munching away, and life feels good again. Finally, I get home, exhausted but happy. I plop down on the couch, and I can’t help but think about the day. Miklavz-na-Dravskem-Polju is wild, man. Full of ups and downs, but that’s what makes it home. So yeah, that was my day. Just another crazy, emotional ride in this little slice of paradise. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
