Man, what a day! I’m tellin’ ya, being a dispatcher in Novo Mesto is like riding a rollercoaster blindfolded. So, I wake up, right? Sun’s shining, birds are chirping, and I’m like, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Spoiler alert: it wasn’t. First call comes in at 7 AM. Some dude on Trg svobode is losing his mind. Apparently, his car won’t start. I’m like, “Bro, did you check the battery?” But no, he’s convinced it’s a conspiracy. I mean, c’mon, it’s just a car, not the end of the world! I send a guy over, and while I’m on the line, I can hear him yelling about how the universe is against him. Classic. Then, I get another call. This time, it’s from a lady on Ulica Šolska. She’s locked herself outta her apartment. I’m like, “Lady, you gotta get a spare key!” But she’s all panicky, saying her cat’s inside. I’m thinking, “Great, now I gotta save a cat.” So, I dispatch someone to help her out. I mean, who knew being a dispatcher meant being a cat hero too? By 10 AM, I’m already frazzled. I grab a coffee from my fave spot, Café Bunker. Best coffee in town, no cap. I’m standing there, trying to sip my espresso, when I get a call about a traffic jam on Ulica Kette. Apparently, some guy thought it’d be a good idea to park his truck in the middle of the road. Like, dude, what were you thinking? I can’t even. So, I’m juggling calls, trying to keep my cool. Then, outta nowhere, I get a call from a guy on Ulica Mariborska. He’s lost his dog. I’m like, “Man, this is a lot for one day.” I tell him to check the park by the Krka River. It’s a popular spot for pups. I mean, who wouldn’t wanna hang out by the river, right? Around noon, I finally get a breather. I’m sitting at my desk, scrolling through my phone, when I see a post about the old castle. They’re doing some renovation, and I’m like, “Finally! That place needs some love.” I remember going there as a kid, running around like a maniac. Good times, good times. But then, the phone rings again. It’s a lady on Ulica Tovarniška. She’s complaining about noise from a construction site. I’m like, “Lady, it’s Slovenia! We’re always building something!” But she’s not having it. I mean, I get it, but c’mon, it’s not like they’re building a rollercoaster in her backyard. The afternoon rolls around, and I’m still in the thick of it. I get a call about a street performer on Glavni trg. Apparently, he’s playing the accordion and people are loving it. I’m like, “Finally, some good news!” I tell my buddy to swing by and check it out. Gotta support local talent, ya know? Then, just when I think it can’t get crazier, I get a call about a parade. A parade! In the middle of the day! I’m like, “What is happening?” Turns out, it’s some local festival. I’m all for it, but I’m also like, “How am I supposed to manage traffic now?” By the time the sun starts to set, I’m exhausted. I’ve dealt with lost cars, lost cats, and now a parade. I’m ready to crash. But then, I get one last call. It’s a kid on Ulica Cankarjeva. He’s asking for help with his homework. I’m like, “Dude, I’m not a tutor!” But I can’t say no. So, I help him out. Finally, I wrap up my day. I’m sitting in my car, looking at the beautiful sunset over the Krka River. I think about all the craziness. Novo Mesto, you wild! You keep me on my toes. I wouldn’t trade this job for anything. Well, maybe for a vacation. But that’s a different story. So, yeah, that was my day. Just another day in the life of a dispatcher in Novo Mesto. Full of surprises, chaos, and a bit of joy. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
