Man, what a day! I swear, Radlje-ob-Dravi really knows how to throw a curveball. So, I’m an anticorrosion agent, right? Sounds fancy, but really, I just make sure metal doesn’t rust away. But today? Today was a whole different story. I woke up, ready to tackle the day. The sun was shining, birds were chirping, and I thought, “Hey, maybe today won’t suck.” I grabbed my coffee from that little café on Trg svobode. You know the one? The barista there is a legend. She always knows my order. But today, she was outta my fave beans! Ugh! I mean, c’mon! How do you run out of coffee? So, I’m already a bit grumpy, but whatever. I head over to the industrial zone near the Drava River. It’s a bit of a trek, but I love the view. The river’s all sparkly, and the mountains in the background? Gorgeous! But then, I hit a snag. The road on Ulica 1. maja was blocked. Like, seriously? I had to take a detour through some sketchy back streets. I felt like I was in a bad action movie. Finally, I get to the site. It’s a mess. Rust everywhere! I mean, I’m the anticorrosion guy, but this was next level. I’m talking about metal that looked like it had been through a war. I’m shaking my head, thinking, “What are these people doing?” I start my work, and it’s hot. Like, sweat-dripping-down-my-back hot. Then, outta nowhere, this kid on a bike zooms by. He’s yelling something about a cat stuck in a tree. I’m like, “Dude, I’m trying to save metal here!” But then I see it. A little fluffy cat, meowing like it’s auditioning for a musical. So, I drop my tools and help the kid. We get the cat down, and it’s all cute and purring. I’m feeling good, right? But then, the owner shows up, and she’s furious! Apparently, the kid’s been climbing her tree for weeks. Oops! After that drama, I get back to work. But guess what? My tools are gone! I’m searching everywhere, and I’m about to lose it. I mean, who steals anticorrosion tools? It’s not like they’re gold! I finally find them behind some rusty old machine. I swear, I almost cried. By now, it’s late afternoon. I’m exhausted, but I decide to grab a bite. I hit up that little place on Ulica Koroška. You know, the one with the best štruklji? I order a plate, and it’s heavenly. I’m sitting there, enjoying my food, when I overhear this couple arguing. They’re going on about the best way to clean metal. I’m like, “Dude, I’m right here! Ask me!” But they don’t. Typical. As I’m leaving, I bump into an old friend from high school. We start chatting, and it turns out he’s working on some big project in Radlje. We reminisce about the good ol’ days, and I’m feeling all nostalgic. It’s funny how life brings people back together, right? Finally, I head home, and I’m just done. I flop on my couch, thinking about the day. It was wild, emotional, and a bit ridiculous. But hey, that’s Radlje-ob-Dravi for ya. Full of surprises, drama, and a whole lotta heart. I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Well, maybe a lifetime supply of coffee. But that’s a different story!
